No, he's just one more confirmation of that fact. As if we needed any more.

Ted Haggard is not a role model for all of religion, but yes, there is hypocrisy in religion. Just like there is some form of hypocrisy in many other people's lives. No one would have paid a bit of attention if it were not for the fact that he was a prominent religious leader who had spoken against the gay lifestyle.

You didn't mention the fact that the church has voted today to have him removed from his position.

Does Ted Haggard disprove that there are a lot of Christians who aren't hypocrites? Just because you've got one bad apple ending up in the news doesn't mean all Christians are like that. Check out the blog entry I just posted about Haggard.

No. Ted Haggard proves that there is hyprocisy in men, i.e. humans.

Religions are belief systems and rules of conducts -- so by their very nature most religious systems are not hypocritical, i.e. mostly the doctrines within a given religion are fairly consistent.

What is inconsistent is how well us human beings follow the rules, and there are always those who think that because they have risen to the top of an organization, that they are above the rules. Which they are not.

Ted Haggard's swift removal from his positions of authority show that hypocrisy is not tolerated in mainstream Christianity, and his so called fall from grace is nothing more than his personal hypocrisy made manifest.

Ted Haggard proves that not all men who stand behind the pulpit were called there by God. They are self appointed false prophets sent there by satan to do his dirty works and try to weaken the faith that true christians have in God.

1 Timothy 3:1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

There is nothing that is or has happened or going to happen in this world that God has not warned us of in the bible.

All it can prove is hypocrisy in Ted Haggard, logically speaking.

this only proves that hypocrisy abounds in humanity. Haggard is disgraceful. so was swaggart, and baker. so am i. every day i struggle with issues that are unbecoming of a Christian. and every day i fall short...so do you. Grace and Forgiveness are amazing gifts. Gifts that can be received or rejected. i am thankful for that choice. You could be thankful to.

Teddy is only one in a long and varied history of hypocrites in the public eye, concerning religion. Even if it turns out that he's telling the truth, which I doubt, his name will always be synonymous with gay men and meth. He'll never be able to escape that. He doesn't prove anything, no, because there were many before him, and there will be many after him. He serves only to help point it out, bring it into focus.

Um, no. That was done a long time ago. There's hypocrisy everywhere, in case you hadn't heard.

Any parents here who smoke? Most likely. Would any of them advocate that their children smoke? Most UNlikely.

Hypocrisy.

Like I said, there are hypocrites everyewhere. Just don't be one of them.

I wonder how long before the next scandal. Seems hardly a week goes by without some holier than thou hypocrite or pervert being exposed. They need weeding out and bringing to justice.

Religion is the ultimate con, it is government protected, tax free and the product they sell doesn't have to be delivered until you reach a place that doesn't exist. No wonder so many people jump on this manured money wagon, even if they have to be total Hypo-Christians.
