You are not alone. And of course our Lord is in control! When in doubt, you have the prayer of that man in the Gospel according to Mark: "Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief." Also, if you want to be strong, to resist temptations and so forth, you should pray for God's help.
How come you don't get support and help at the Church in your country? You should talk to someone (a priest is best) face to face, since you seem to be in great distress (as we all are, sometimes). A priest should be able to help you on this, and possibly to help you understand if you are truly hearing the Lord (as it happened to St. Paul, and it still happens today to converts), or you might have a spiritual deception (as it happens to many people), or you might even need medical help (which I personally doubt; but then I'm not a doctor). Anyway, if this voice ("he sounds so distant") starts telling you distressing things, ignore it, and start praying. There are several stories of people (mostly monks) who were deceived by satan who was impersonating Christ or an angel, and others who were about to be deceived.
If you feel this will help, you can contact me (I'll change settings in order to be able to receive messages). I'm an Orthodox Christian, and I strongly believe the true Christian Tradition can help you with your struggle and temptation. I copy some links here, but you will still have to find and contact an Orthodox parish in your country.

Better days may not come to any of God's saints here on earth. Just remember that God has promised that you will enter His kingdom if you believe and do not doubt. Death is in store for everyone so to pray that God make things better might mean you lose your life. Have faith that God will carry you through the river and to that beautiful shore. Too many people believe a "good life" is what God has promised those who believe in His son. Not true. A good afterlife is really the only thing he has promised and to give you the words to say when your faith is tested unto death.

I truly feel for you. There is nothing harder than to keep up your spirit when you cannot even see a light at the end of the tunnel. I went through 5 years like that with my youngest daughter. She was spinning out of control. She was on drugs. She lived on the streets. She said things so hurtful, I could hardly even breath. It was awful. I prayed, and prayed, but still she got worse. I cried a lot!
Now my daughter has come back - just like the prodigal son. She's changed her ways, she's gone back to school and graduated. She has a good job. She is back in fellowship with the Lord Jesus. She is a delight to be with.
My point is, when we are in the midst of darkness, it seems it will never end. It will. I don't know what is going on with you, but you are not alone. I will be praying for you.

All Christians go through these periods and you should recognize that there is nothing wrong with you or your faith. Sometimes God does not let us know what is happening for a while. There are many people that would be willing to pray for you. You could also look at some of the books by Henri Nouwen, who was a great spiritual writer. God has called you to be his child and he will see you through this. God always comes through on his promises.
Blessings

Read psalm 91 and psalm 23 , they will help. Every Christian experiences dry period like the desert, you are not alone for the bible says He will not forsake you .At times I have viewed it as , I am like the Israelites crossing the desert , we all have to leave Egypt. This is the time to rely on Faith, you know He is there, just because you don't hear Him., He is still there.Pray as prayer releases the help of God. When I went through it I was[ alone ]too, you can do it. When King David had no one to encourage him he encouraged himself.God bless will pray for you.

I am so sorry that you are going through a difficult time. Talk to Jesus like He was your closest friend and sitting right next to you.Cry , let everything you are feeling come out and ask Him to help you through it. tell Him you faith is shaky. He is there for you. I am not just saying this cuz it sounds like the good Christian thing to say.I have had a terrible time in my life as well. The peace that He can give you is unexplainable.May GOD bless you and bring you peace.

It's like Megan said!
Jesus himself said that He would never leave you nor forsake you.
even in times when He seems distance He is right there.
Jesus cannot lie.
All you have to do is talk to him about your fears and concerns give it all to Him.
Also you need to read His Word, the bible, try to find scripture that deal with situations like yours. and if you don't find any ask the Holy spirit to lead you to the right ones.
There is no big mystery on how to pray, just talk and end it with saying " In Jesus name, amen.
Believe me as you read His word and talk/pray to Him daily you will soon see that your faith has increased and you will hear Him speak and it will sound as if He is right next to you.
I pray that the spirit of heaviness (that is on you) will be exchanged for a spirit of PRAISE.
Stay strong in the Lord, and in the Power of His might1

You are NOT Alone.
Jesus will NEVER Leave you Nor Forsake you.
Confess this Outloud to yourself:
Jesus is my Refuge and My Fortress, My GOD in Whom I Trust.
No Weapon Formed Against me Shall Prosper.
Confess that Out-Loud Over and Over--your Faith will be Increased (Faith comes by HEARING the Word of GOD--dosen't Say who has to say it, you just have to HEAR IT.)
As you Confess this Word of GOD out loud, the Holy Spirit will have Something to Work with for Your Benefit, You will Start RENEWING your Mind and drive out the Darkness (Fear) in your Mind, you will be Commanding your Angels to Help You (Angels Hearken to the VOICE of the Word of GOD) your the One Speaking the Word, they will Hearken and Help you.
You WILL get Through this, and I will Pray that your Faith Fail not, in Jesus Name.
Father, I Pray that you Strengthen Blueyes in her Faith, I ask that YOU Rise Up With-in her and keep her from Falling from the Snares (Fear) of the Devil, give her Peace that Passes ALL Understanding, in the Name of Jesus Christ YOUR SON, Risen from the Dead.

"How to pray in a simple way? "
Matthew 6:5-15
V5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
V6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
When you pray to our Father, go somewhere private so you can be alone with God. Then He will bless you openly.
V7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
Don't get into the habit of saying the same thing over and over. God made us all unique and wants our love. If He wanted robots just to repeat the same thing again and again, He would have made them. He is are Father and loves us very much. Talk to Him, tell Him you love Him and thank Him for the blessings you do have.
