I have reburnt using ImageBurn at 4x and have the same file system as the first. It will therefore not play in a standalone DVD player. This is a relisting

I have not used imageburn, but with nero you just need to select burn image from the menu and it will work.

However, is this a dvd iso?

Generally, an iso is an image of a disc,
however that disc which you have could be of a divx (compressed) movie for example in which case it would only play on a computer with the appropriate codecs and not on a dvd player! (although there are a few ones that support divx now)

I would suggest browsing (on your computer) the dvd that you have created and look for files ending in .vob (dvd files)
If you do find such files then it is indeed a dvd movie.

If not, then it is something else and it wouldnt play on your dvd player no matter how you burn it..

Do you mean ImgBurn? If you do, I am surprise why it didn't work. There are other software which can burn .iso files but they work more or less like ImgBurn. So if it does not work with ImgBurn then I sincerely doubt you will have any success with the other .iso burner software. But, on the off chance I am completely wrong, you can try DVD Decrypter (someone else mentioned this program and it is a very good suggestion), MagicISO or PowerISO. Make sure you have the latest versions. Here are the download links:

1. ImgBurn (http://www.filehippo.com/download_imgburn/)
2. MagicISO (http://www.filehippo.com/download_magiciso/)
3. PowerISO (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/PowerISO/1127613841/1)
4. DVD Decrypter(http://www.filehippo.com/download_dvd_decrypter/)

ISO doesn't burn files, it is a file. You'll need to get a program like isobuster to open and split the file into parts that you can view. The program itself will give you the steps to break down the files into parts you need, want and can use for burning onto a dvd. Once the file has been properly broken apart, then you should be able to recode it into a dvd for playback.

A file with an .iso extension is an "image" file, whether it is CD or DVD doesn't matter, except in choosing what you transfer it to.

MOST Burner programs will burn this file, in the appropriate format, if you use the proper command. The "copy" command just makes a duplicate.

I use NERO and for that program you choose "burn image to disc". It translates the program to the proper extensions, chapter splits, etc. and burns it to a playable disc.
