Lately, photo radar tickets in my neighborhood are out of control. The thing that annoys me most about them is that they seem almost impossible to contest. If I went five miles over the limit in a specific area of a busy street, how would I know? Worse, they don't even post signs telling you if photo radar is in use.

I think that it's wrong, as well. I have serious doubts about the legitimacy of speed camera. Machines are broken all the time. Tell that to the driver/victim.

What's the best way to beat photo radar, or the ticket, if you get one?

Ok... obvious answer is... dont speed or run red lights. If the camera caught you, then you were doing something wrong. Fighting it is damn near impossible because they have photo evidence that you were breaking the law. Like you said.. you dont know if you were speeding or not- we all tend to drive faster than we should, and you were probably speeding. Those cameras dont randomly take pictures and try to bust you on something you didnt do... they actually have a rhyme and reason. Why should they have to post signs informing you that you are under survelliance? When you signed for your driver's license you agreed to follow all rules of the road. So therefore the police and the government have a right to make sure you are following through with your promise. There was most likely an article in the local paper when these cameras were incorporated into the system, and where they are located... that's about all the warning you are going to get. You should assume that at any point in time you are being watched... that makes me nervous but that is the way that it is. Every light you stop at has cameras, and most are recording license plate numbers. Even if they aren't equipped with the technology to send you a ticket for running a red light. Now that i have strayed from the question... you cant beat the photo radar unless you have solid proof of what you were doing or how fast you were going at that precise moment.. as that is impossible because you have no knowledge of when the camera is recording you, i would recommend being careful. Respect the laws in the area and you wont have the problem. As for malfunctions... machines aren't perfect and if they have recorded you at something you know is impossible (say you drive an old beater that couldn't go over 70 if your life depended on it and it records you going 90)then you are gonna have to prove how that is an impossiblitity. Other than that... good luck!!

you can't beat the actually camera, they record speeds as fast as 170 mph so unless your car can do more than that....your screwed. In many townships police equipment such as those cameras and radar guns must be tested every so often so you if they find that the testing is outdated they will drop the ticket.

You cant beat it if they catch you but they send the ticket to you in the mail i belive they. take a piture of your license plate
There are two ways one buy this spray it works you spray it on your license plate an when it takes apiture it reflects the light back to the camera and this keeps them from sending you a ticket. it is against the law though

how is it wrong?

if you're breaking the law, you're breaking the law. i dont think they should post signs in areas that they have these cameras because they tell you not to speed in driving school.
you can see the cameras anyways, weather on the stop light or on the side of the road. they are obvious.
