i am a 60 year old widow. how long after i file will i get my check?

5 months maybe sooner or longer.Just call them once a month to check on the status

Yeah, good luck with that. It can take years. There is a lot of bureacratic red-tape to wade through before approval, especially if you are not retirement age. They have to calculate the deduction in payment for early retirement, the reasons for early retirement, and to check your filed paperwork for errors.

You should get it within a few months if there is nothing unusual about your application. People who take years to get a check are usually applying for disability - that can take a very long time to prove eligibility.

my husband got his first check today after 4 years of applying the back pay only goes back 2 years and if you get a lawyer he gets a good chunk of that .if you dont get a lawyer you'll keep getting denied .so its worth it in the long run.
