Both are just part of life but I think I am more scared of getting old. It like i told someone(I cant remember who) that so i wont have to stay old for a long time I am going to go bungee jumping at the age of 50 in hopes of getting a heart attack. Kind of pathetic of me but yeah.

Well - no one stays young forever, so for us that are going to hopefully live a long life - of course your going to get old and wrinkled and no one lives forever - so it's a catch-22 if you ask me. Just make sure you believe in God and accept him as your savior and ask him to forgive all your sins (everyone has sin's-believe me - no ones perfect - EXCEPT GOD) and I think you'll be alright. And I don't think your going through a midlife crisis-I believe everyone's had these thoughts - I know I have.

Neither scare me in of themselves...what does scare me is having my health fail to the point that I can not function independently, or not being of sound mind. I do not want to live miserably, and I do not want my loved ones feeling that I am a burden...at the same time, the thought of a nursing home sickens me. We as a society need to HEAR the elderly a bit more than we do and figure out how to grow old and die the BEST way...the majority of us will be in their shoes someday and wishing things were different.

At 51 the alternative does not look good. Bring on old age, I have 3 great children who are fighting to take care of me. Death is a cold ground. Wrinkle can not be that bad.

Growing old in poor health is scarier than death. I prefer an early death to growing old and sickly because of illness. I am 71 years old and good health (other than pre-diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol) and expect to stay well for another 5 or more years. If I get ill, I would prefer to die - no problem.

Growing old and loosing the ability to take care of myself scares me more then death. I don't want to be a burden to my kids. I work with Alzheimers residents and see how gradually they loose not only their memory, but the ability to function. I see how hard that is for their families to watch. When it is time for them to die I have seen so many of them look up to the sky and start carrying a conversation with someone. When we look up the name of who they are talking to about 90% are talking to their mothers. Then within so many hours they die. I believe death will bring us back to our loved ones that have already died and they will come to meet us when it is time. That's not at all scary. This time on Earth is only temporary to complete the mission we were put here for and when it is finished we will go back home.

It scares me that one day I will not be able to walk half a block, it scares me that on day i won't be able to read a magazine, It scares me that one day I wont be able to understand the lyrics in most songs, it scares me that one day i will not be strong enough to lift a young child, it scares me that one day i won't be able to open the pickle jar, it scares me that one day I won't be able to drive, it scares me that one day I need help walking, it scares me that one day I will have a cupboard of daily pills. But I would rather live in a hospital bed for a years and be visited by family and friends, even if it meant me suffering all that time. I would stay alive through the greatest pain to spare the grief of my family for as long as I could. So I think I fear death more...not only fear for myself, but for those I will leave behind. Even so, one of my greatest fears is not growing old, nor my own death, but the death of my own grandparents.

growing old does not scare me growing older exitces me because as you age you are able to do more things like16 drive, 18 your an adult , then eventually get married and have kids, then you get to experince everthing with your kids, then get rid of kids and have the time of your life retired and without them life in full of joyness that i wouldnt wonder why anyone would be scared of getting older. what Im scared of is death being so close to death in my battle of cancer I relized that life is so short that you may never get to experince stuff like getting married or getting your lincese. going to your first formal dance or simply your first kiss. so death is what scares me the most cause you never no what you might not be able to complete in life

Growing old is definitely scaring me. I don't want to be a ward of the state. I don't want to be spoken to like I'm a child and I don't want to be forced into playing bingo or making pot holders (which is a double slap in the face since they won't let you cook).
