I have a six month old and i want another dog. I want another so soon because im so used to having three dogs in the house but in the last year or so my two dogs died and i got a pup. I want a pup, but i think i might want an older dog for i have seen so many bootiful goolden retrievers, and i feel bad for the owner giving one up and i would like for the owners to give the dog to great home, for i have a great home for a dog. I mean we let our dogs run free outside for we do not live near a road and we have 17 acres, we also go swimming and hiking and all the fun stuff dogs get to do. THEY EVEN GO TO WORK WITH MY PARENTS! lol, so i think i want an older dog but im not sure i should get one so soon with a six month old pup. Do u think i can?

they should be fine. introduce them slowly and under supervision. but chances a the pup will just wanna play with the new family member. if u do go a head and get the older dog make sure its been socialised with other dogs before. good luck.

p.s i think id love to live at ur place except the whole going to work thing.

Older dogs are so much better than pups. Pups will tear up your place, chew on your shoes, chew on your furniture. It has been known that older dogs have saved lives while a young pup is just starting out in life. However, I have known older dogs to adapt to young puppies especially if the older dog is a female. You know that mother instinct. Just watch the older dog and if she snaps at the pup, you may want to keep them apart for awhile until it grows up a bit. Golden retrievers are perfect pets. They are really smart. If you have dishnetwork look at the channel animal planet- animal miracles and they have many stories about golden retrievers....

Consider doing a breed rescue. I'll link to the club. And remember, that just because you don't live near any roads, that doesn't mean that a cruel hunter, a coyote, a mountain lion, or some other danger can't get to your dog. Consider fencing in a portion of your land so that your dogs are safe within those limits. : )

Oh - and kudos on wanting to rescue!!!

Depends on your dogs ,see if you can bring your dog up to wherever youre getting your new dog and see if they get along...spca,humane society and animal rescues are great places to find out if there is a compatible pet.
