My 70lb dog is on Phenobarb for seizures and seems to be drinking ALOT of water. Is this normal? I know it will take her a bit to get used to the med but just wanted to see if anyone else has had this happen. Thanks!!

My 90 pounder is in the same situation. Medication twice a day (every 12 hrs) and drinks tons of water. I have the largest dog dish they sell and I wash & fill it at least twice a day. Yes it's normal. He still gets seizures but they are minor (less than 5 minutes). I lay on the floor with him and hug & pet him just to help him along and let him know that I'm there for him. They have to go outside right after it's over or you may end up with a mess in the house. It's normal for this also.

Probably unrelated to the Phenobarb. Could be a sign of diabetes or nothing at all. Contact your vet.

yes, it is true, my chihuahua is on it too and also stays close to the water bowl. the med also makes her gain weight, so watch your dog's diet carefully.

I think that could be a side effect.
Check with your vet, I would.
