Great question! I have been in a committed relationship with one person for over forty-seven years, and it has been worth it. Very much so. I was introduced to photography, classical music, mountain climbing, literature classics, learning the golden mean, understanding the difference between the letter and the spirit of the law, learning moderation, understanding there are always two sides to everything, understanding the importance of patience, and not trying to do too much all at once, establishing values which last, and are not based on shifting sands of emotional needs of the moment, the responsibility of caring for the elderly, the value of volunteering in the community, and so on and so forth. I met my partner when I was sixteen and he became my mentor, and we just bonded and became best friends and are still together, and are still best friends. Today, I am 63 and he is 84. It has been a very valuable experience for me, so my answer to your question is I enjoy a relationship, probably more than a lot of people do. Thank you for posting your question, as it has gotten me to thinking about how valuable this old friendship really is! Sent to you with good energies from Chris in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A.

Glad you asked. This is the first time in my life that I've really been single----So not enjoying it.
True enough that in relationships you do have some issues to deal with, we all go through it.
We deal with so many different things in our lives, on a day-to-day basis. At the end of the day you just wanna spend your time with someone who makes you happy. Makes you smile, and appreciates you. The last thing you wanna do is argue.
That's why I'm single now, but the part I miss is really the fact that I have to pay for everything by myself now. Also that there's no one to hold me. Chin up:)

I think it depends on where you are at in your life. When I am concentrating on a project or my career- sometimes it is too overwhelming to have to take someone else's feelings into consideration.
But all in all, I would prefer to be in a relationship. I love the connection I feel when I am with someone special.
It is ALWAYS better to be single and happy than in a relationship and unhappy.
There is always someone else out there for you- you just have to believe it.

Feels like more fun to be single sometimes, with all the possibilities it creates, but ultimately better to be in a relationship if it is a good one where there is mutual respect and love. It shouldn't be hurtful hon.

i prefer to be in a good relationship. i'd rather be single than in a bad relationship. love is hurtful sometimes but when its more painful than loving you have to make a choice.

I prefer being in a relationship. Someone to talk to and snuggle up to at nights. It can be hurtful at times but you have to take the good with the bad.

Both have their advantages - single life can be very fun but there is nothing more satisfying than being in a loving relationship with a special boy/girlfriend.

Be lucky that you are in a relationship. I'm 26 and have only been in one. You get used to being alone. I try to look at the positive things, like going out without having to tell someone where I'm going and whom I'm going with. Things like that. If I let myself dwell on the fact that I don't have someone at home waiting for me, or that I go to bed alone, I'll be in a constant state of depression forever.

relationships are f@#*ing hard work and if you don't have a partner that's in it 100% then it's not worth it, just stay single. but if you're lucky enough to have someone that truely unconditionally loves you then it's worth it to stick it out to the end. single life has a lot of freedom, but a lot of loneliness as well.

I'd much, much rather be single than in a relationship. When you're single, you only have to answer to yourself, and you don't have to worry what one other person thinks of you. There's absolutely no point anymore.
