I Think It's Appropriate
To Deploy Troops Along The Border
(AT LEAST As Long As The Nation Is At War)

When I Say TROOPS, I Mean ARMED TROOPS
And AGGRESSIVE PATROLS Of The Entire Border

Militarize The Southern Border

We Can Build Armories And Training Centers
For ALL MILITARY SERVICES Along The Border
That Will Provide A Constant Military Presence
At Strategic Locations

I Think A Move Like That
Would Serve To Deter Not Only ILLEGAL Immigration
It Would Halt A HUGE Amount Of Drug Traffic As Well

More armed border patrol agents. Absolutly no "deals" made with drug dealers or smugglers. Re-define the "anchor baby" deal. Make English the official language of the nation. Stop the catch and release and get these people deported. Enforce housing codes, license checks, and start seriously punishing the offenders. Both the illegals and the landlords renting to them. Start slapping serious penalties on the employers. Better checks on SS#'s and communication between the departments to put a stop to it. I want the right to find out if someone else is using my number before there's serious problems. More ICE agents. More police trained to aid ICE in finding and deporting illegals. A freeze in the ACLU in getting involved on the laws already on the books concerning illegals. No federal funding to cities who do not enforce the laws. More immigration employees to get those here legally through in a more effeciant manner and be able to do prompt follow-ups on visas that have expired. An end to this bi-lingual fiasco in the schools. A temporary halt on all immigration till this fiasco is settled. Gee.....that alone is going to take decades and there's still alot more to do.

Firm enforcement of ALL the immigration laws currently on the books would go a very long way! Deportation of ALL illegals currently in the country, jail terms and huge fines for ALL employers of illegals, stop ALL social benefits to illegal immigrants including anchor babies - in fact, let's get that anchor baby law OFF the books! It is outdated and is a major incentive to illegal immigrants to come here. These things, along with the fence and more BP will go a long way. I don't think there is ANYTHING that will completely stop ALL illegal immigration but these things would certainly decrease it a great deal. Then, once everything is in place, do an overhaul of the immigration services to provide enough guest workers to do the work in the fields, but NOT in areas that Americans are willing to work such as construction and even fast food. Also, let's overhaul welfare and get all the able-bodied legal citizens off the rolls, while we're at it!

The border fence is a joke that will do little to slow down the tide of illegal aliens. It does more to keep illegals in the country (after they illegally enter) than it does to keep them out. What needs to be done is to enforce the laws currently on the books vigorously. It should be mandatory that all employers verify the documents of workers using the free 800 phone number provided by the government. The most importants thing that could be done is pass reasonable guest worker legislation that encourages law abiding workers to work here, make their money, and go home again. The current situation is just an invitation for Mexico to send their criminals North, while the law abiding Mexicans are kept out of the country.

To be honest, a quick but simple minded answer would be to shoot any and all that attempt to cross illegally. I say we could use the money we are spending on the war to help the funding. You know, by adding more security, better patrols, more equipment and stiffer penalties for breaking the immigration laws. Unfortunately, that will not happen until we get someone in office who REALLY cares what goes on in this country. True enough, we cannot stop all of them, but i do believe we could better safeguard our country if the Government would take the time and put forth the effort. We all suffer from the lack of concern when it comes to the immigration laws not being upheld.

Next time you might wanna add "realistic" in your question somewhere. lol. I think the fence should be done first, then we need to start deporting those in our jails and caught committing welfare fraud. Lets start fining and jailing employers and landlords. Monthly document inspections at places of employment couldnt hurt either. Amnesty to illegals that are proven to have worked straight for the past ten years and contribute to society in a positve way is something I feel strongly about as well. Tougher punishment on Americans committing the same welfare/medi-cal fraud should be implemented as well, after all they do have ss#'s and can get "real" jobs and should. Those are just a few for now. :-)

Create a border state by building a system of campus communities, including a maximum security prison complex, on both sides. There, workers and families caught in between legal and illegal status, can declare dual citizenship, enrolled in a work-study program sponsored by participating schools, churches, businesses and organizations that wish to provide services and training to residents to build and manage their own government.

Voluntary or mandatory restitution for past immigration law violations could be managed this way, where individuals or businesses can invest the equivalent amount of time or resources in creating legal means by which immigrants can seek educational and work opportunities instead of having to break the law. For those who have committed crimes, I recommend deportation for anyone, born here or not, found guilty of violent crimes, especially using a weapon, where convicts lose their citizenship for the amount of time of their sentence which they serve across the border; and in exchange, create openings for immigrant applicants to become citizens for that same amount of time, who agree to abide by laws and respect equal rights and freedoms of others.

Thus, citizenship would be defined based on respect for laws; and this system would both deter crime while rewarding good productive citizenship. Creating a border state would help organize alternatives to prevent illegal immigration, while the security forces guarding the prison for deported convicts would double as border patrol. Workers and students under such a program would be able to invest in building and operating their own schools, business communities and services, economy and governments, and would be encouraged to come forward and work with authorities instead of running from the law for past violations. Businesses which also hired illegal workers in the past would be allowed or required to pay fines or perform community service by investing in this program, so there is accountability to the degree that laws were broken.

I believe this would be fair to all parties, and would promote respect for laws and for equal rights of all people. It would recognize the problems while encouraging cooperation on solutions to crime and poverty through educational and economic development.

Random ID checks for illegal immigrants, send them back if no green card, legal status papers, or visitors visas. Make it mandatory to learn and use the English language- many will leave on their own.
