I totally agree with you that smoking is bad for you as I am a none smoker, but I can see where smokers are coming from as they are having their civil liberties taken away from them.
Most of them are not complaining about not being allowed to smoke where they want but should be allocated somewhere for them to go so that they are only affecting themselves.
Something else you should consider smokers pay a lot of tax into this government approx £4 on a packet of cigarettes if they all stopped smoking where do you think the government will get that money from they will put tax up for none smokers.

As a smoker I actually agree with you in part. It's not my right to smoke where and when I want. It's my addiction to manage and not push in other peoples faces.
I don't mind going outside for a ciggie. At work and at home it gets me away from the stress for 2 minutes.
Having said that why do non-smokers moan so much about it. Leave us alone to pay 10% of your taxes and reduce the burden on the state by dying early.

if you think about it, they are justified in their whining, because they pay a hell of a lot more tax than we non-smokers. And I personally think pubs with no smoke lose their atmosphere, it's really odd. And where are you going to put the ripped-up beermats if there's no ashtray?
However... I don't care in the least if they get a bit cold on their *** breaks. They've got a small fire in front of their faces, they should be fine. I'm addicted to alcohol, do I get breaks just so's i can go outside and indulge it? No. Non-smokers don't even get tea breaks in my office which is blatant discrimination.
As a non-smoker, I don't tend to complain about smokers, they're free to do what they want where they want, in my book... apart from when I had bronchitis and some random came and blew cigarette smoke right in my face because he thought i was coughing to make a point about his smoking. I coughed so hard I blacked out. He never did say sorry.

I have a neighbor who is just like the nonsmoking crowd I am reading here.
She is perfect in every way. Lives in a section 8 house, has three dangerous dogs, draws welfare and at about 5' 5" weighs nearly 300 lbs. But she doesn't smoke. Oh yeah, she has a car too old to smog but not too old to run and belch blue smoke thick enough to gag me every time she starts it and a second one that hasn't moved for over a year with two flats and tags that expired a year ago.
Self righteous hypocrites one and all.

I think you need to look past the actual smoking part and look at the bigger picture. I think as an adult I have the right to make the decision to smoke or not. It is my right to smoke. The only difference between America and a communist country is we think we are free and they know they aren't. When smoking is outlawed than what, alcohol, fat, or caffeine?
I do not need you to worry about my health as I smoke. Just curious how much fat and sugar are you eating every day? I really don't care because it is your right to do what you want. I just ask that you also allow me my rights.

why do non smokers moan so much!especially reformed smokers!! i don't drink alcohol but i don't say you can only have a soft drink when I'm there in a pub or rest rant! i don't like the smell of Alcohol but you don't see me moaning about it? i don't like the smell of car fumes but your not going to stop using the car are you! NO! we are all made aware of the risks of smoking and some choose not to smoke and some choose to smoke! we all have choices! don't like the smoke stay away from it? so if you are really concerned about peoples health then stop using your car? stop using your hairspray and stop using anything that effects the ozone layer!.

Smoking IS bad for you...
but we're all responsible adults... and frankly i dont want to live past 75 is i can help it, cos thats when things really do wrong with your body...
so i'll smoke, the only thing i moan about is pubs which ban smoking, because the pub is where you go for a pint and a smoke its been that way for 150 years... so why should some middle class yuppies tell me I cant anymore.

I smoke and I dont mind the upcoming ban.
Im happy to smoke outside, I dont smoke near people for example on a bus stop, because I appreciate that non-smokers dislike it.
We arent all selfish gits you know!
