SImple answer to your question. There are a whole lot of stupid and silly people out there, unfortunately they breed well.

They like to pick on things they don't understand, but won't take the time to listen when you do try to inform them. To give yourself over to Christ is something they can't fathom, because they can't physically touch Him.
