For those who say that a 9-year-old doesn't need a bra--you obviously haven't seen many 9-year-old girls lately. It's very common to see enough development that you want your daughter to wear a bra, especially with certain clothes. My 9-year-old daughter, who is already in women's a size 8 shoe (!), has to wear a bra with anything that's even slightly clingy or it looks obscene. It's not that she's huge up top, just that there's enough there to notice, and she doesn't need that kind of attention at age 9.

Anyway, you can start her out with training bras that are sold just about everywhere that bras are sold. In K-Mart, I found them in the girls' section. In Wal-Mart, I found them by the regular bras. At those stores, the training bras were well under $10 each.

Bring your daughter with you to try bras on, if you can. The sizing of training bras doesn't correspond to girls' clothing sizes. I think my daughter, who wears a size 12/14, wound up in something called a size 34, but it didn't look anywhere near as large a women's size 34 bra without a cup. Some styles are more comfortable than others, too, and you won't know what feels okay to her unless she tries it on.

You don't mention how much she is developed? My daughter is nine and wanted a bra so bad. But she doesn't have too much to fill. So I bought her a sports bra and also I bought a training bra. So that she feels like she has a bra but it's not a "real" bra. If she's more developed maybe try fitting her at a department store by a woman who's patient and understanding so as not to embarrass your daughter.Good Luck cuz it's a roller coaster from here on!

When I was 9 I wanted a bra sooo bad. My mom bought me one and I hated it. But at least I tried it. Take her to like K-mart or Walmart and go to the little kid's section. That way she gets what she wants and you don't have to spend a whole lot of money. Let her pick it out, it'll be fun, unless she's to embarrassed and then get her something that matches her personality. Make sure it isn't lacy at the top or bottom though because I remember that was really itchy and I hated it.

I had to buy a bra for my 8 yr old this year. I found a really simple and inexpensive bra at Old Navy. They come in s,m,l,xl no worries about cup size very easy for her to put on and take off. Good Luck :)

You take her to a department store with you and make try some on. While she tries them on you go and look for some that might fit better. When you find a size that fits her, buy the bras.

Need to go shopping and find a traing bra, a sports bra or try going to a store like victoria secret or similar store to get a right sized bra.

Take her to a store (JC PENNEY is nice) and find a few to try on. This is a nice place to go, there is not as many people shopping around in there all the time like wal-mart (so she will have some privacy looking and maybe be more comfortable). Once you have a size and her comfort you can get them at other places.
Good Luck

ok. take my advice. i had my girl at a young age. i recently had to take her for a bra. we started with baby steps, and got 4 different kinds: a sports bra- no padding, a v-neck shape no pad bra, and two other general ones which came together (2 of a kind). and it was like nothing happened. she wears them, she says her friends have them. i was kinda freaking out for no reason. AND do not take her to a store to get fitted. if the kid has that much to fill a bra in which she needs to be fitted for, you have more problems- like growth hormones. just take the girl to kohl's, walmart, and be done with it. get some lip gloss and a few shirts and call it a day. DO NOT MAKE IT A BIG DEAL. this can lead to self esteem-self perception stuff.

Make it a special occassion.

When the time comes for my girl I plan on having DH watch the other 2 and I take her to the mall, probably Sears and have her pick a nice appropriate one, between a bra and undershirt.

Then we'll have lunch there. Make it a special day because (sniff sniff) she's growing up.

Pennys and Sears have have a good selection of training bras. If you are male and are just uncomfortable with the whole thing, aska female friend to help out. Most women wouldnt mind helping a young girl. Then go out and have ice cream to celebrate.. shes becoming a woman!
