In order to decide which is better, first, you have to consider the viewers or readers. Children, for example, will prefer the movie. Teachers of English and Literature will choose the book. Now if you compare, for example, the movie "Amadeus" with the play, you have to discuss the differences between the two forms (movie: visual; pictures, action, colors, background music, etc; book: written form of expression, requires more concentration and also interpretation, etc.)

comparing books to movies is easy........books let the readers use their imagination.....movies are in your face, the imaginative work is already done for you, meaning leaves nothing to the imagination. Books tend to let your head run wild, hence every bodies interruption is different....movies...what you see is what you get.
