ring a vet and ask them!!!!

Once a dog had swallowed 17....I kid you not, 17 golf balls and the only affect of it was periodical vomitting. Depending on where the cap sits, your dog will more than likely be fine. Dogs eat so much crap that he/she has probably eaten numerous other objects that you are unaware of. Don't worry, call a vet if you are paranoid, but as long as he/she seems healthy with no serious symptoms than don't panic. By the way, the dog in the aforementioned story was fine, had the ball surgically removed and now has to wear a muzzle when outside because the family lives on a golf course...... neat huh?

Call a 24 hour vet service nearby. Tell them the size of your dog, the cap, etc. and ask them advice. They might have to perform surgery to remove it. If you don't bring your dog to a vet and it does not pass naturally your dog will get sick, first by diarreha and vommitting, then evenually dying from dehydration and poisoning from not passing food because the cap will cause a blockage. Remember the call to the vet is free and can help you decide what to do for you dog.

What kind of cap and how large? What kind of dog? If it was a small plastic cap, chances are it'll be fine and it'll pass it in a few days max. But if it had sharop edges or was large, watch her closely and call the vet for more information to be sure it doesn't become lodged or cause internal damage.

As long as he is breathing, he'll be okay for right now. I would call your vet and let them know and see if he wants to see the dog. It really depends on how big your dog is. If it's a bigger dog, it will be able to pass the cap without a problem. If it's a smaller dog, it might have some trouble.

Call a vet. You'll have to describe your dog's breed and size along with how big the cap was and what it was made out of.

There should be a vet on call or an emergency vet in your area that you can call. DO NOT SELF TREAT WITHOUT THE RECOMMENDATION OF A VET!!!

Good luck to you.

a cap, as in, a bottle cap? i would take him to the vet, because some caps have sharp edges that could cut his stomach up. you can never be too safe with these kinds of things.

Call a vet right away. They can give you instructions right over the phone on what to do. Depending on what time it is where you are, you may have to call an animal hospital. You may have to bring your dog in to be checked out and if necessary, operated on. You can find vets and animal hospitals in the yellow pages.

Put some salt down your dogs throat. It will make him gag and he will throw it up.
My dog swallowed a whole sock, thats what the vet said to do. He threw up the sock.
If this doesn't work, and if his breathing is bad, phone a vet or do the dog heimlich.
Look on this site, it has step by step instructions.

give him lots of water to drink. Call the vet and ask him because your dog can have breathing problems or choke later on or cant eat. Best thing to do is call the vet.

ring the vet, she or he will probably give ur dog an x ray. But if ur dog is teeny, then go to the vet IMMEDIATELY. If it is big, then it's not too much a worry, but still a trip to the vet is good.
