Debate and Speech?

I joined Debate and Speech recently, and totally bombed my first 2 tornaments against other Cross Ex noobs. Will I ever get better, because it doesn't seem like I will anytime soon... Also, will I be more likely to get a college scholarship if I do Debate and Speech? What are its benefit for my future? I'm a freshman.

Hey which debate are you with? I'm with ccofpa. I love debate I just started so I dont know the benefits probably better speach skills.
