This like scandles from the past, will this have an effect on Christianity in America? Did God do this? Did God or Satan have his hand in outing this Reverend?

I don't follow Ted Haggard or any other human. I follow Jesus. If what any human is preaching and teaching does not conform with the Bible, I promptly disregard it. Check out the blog entry I just posted about Ted Haggard.

If we who profess to have a personal relationship with God based our faith on the actions of others, we'd ALL be in trouble!

God gives us free will to choose. I had never heard of Ted Haggard nor his ministry before this latest scandal. But, from everything I've heard, it sounds like Rev. Haggard's ministry and standing in the church was pretty lucrative financially.

I grew up witnessing hypocrisy in organized religion, so this latest preacher scandal is really no surprise to me. While I believe there are some honest and ethical preachers, far too many seem to be motivated only by dollar signs and will preach for or against any subject that keeps the most money flowing in.

If the accusations against Rev. Haggard are true, for him to have railed against the gay lifestyle, same-sex marriage and illegal drug use is the epitome of hypocrisy.

I believe the actions of Rev. Haggard had a hand in his behavior coming to light. I also believe Rev. Haggard is an example of how pervasive the issue of illegal drug use has become, particularly Meth. He is also a great example of why it's so important to base one's faith in God, rather than specific ministries - Jim Jones, Jimmy Swaggert and Jim Baker, to name a few.

No, God or Satan had no hand in it. Ted Haggard is a human and he is responsible for his own actions, not some supernatural force.

Does this have any effect on my faith? No, I'm Wiccan and we don't blame our actions on someone or something else. This is one of the big reasons I left Christianity.

Men do not question my faith. See people today put their faith in a man or men. They don't put their faith in GOD...men are not god, they never will be. Man is always tempted, temptations are all around us. But, you have to fight those tempations. If this man did do this not only does he have to answer to his God but to those people he has ministered too. I always tell people to read the bible, read it, learn from it, don't ever expect some Man to be the one to teach you about God. It's just like when you go to work and you work with fowled mouth people who go to the bars etc....and they'll tell you they are saved. No they are not...People have it all wrong. When you Sin, you drop to your knees and you ask God for his forgiveness and you don't do it anymore. But I do not put my faith in man at all, because men are of the flesh they sin. We all our sinners. You have to remember your faith should be in God never man. Now, don't get me wrong there are some great men out there like Billy Graham and pope John paul the II, both these men to me, knew what God was all about and they have lead good lives and have gone out to spread the word. But, many people need to read the bible from the front to the back. No to answer your question, God did not do this, Satan certainly did. But don't let a man sway your faith. I always have to tell myself, when people who go to church and act like jerks the other 6 days of the week, that they are not God. People act the way they do, God has nothing to do with that. Because apparently they are way out of touch with God.

Haggard's sinS are all his own. Don't go blaming the devil for his hypocrisy.

Of course, even you and I sin on a daily basis, that's just a fact of life. It's just the hypocrisy of his sins that make them so great.

No - I wasn't a fan in the first place. I'm going to be honest - it gave me a little giggle when I found out ~ knowing how outspoken and sometimes hateful he has been about homosexuality.
Talk about a plank in your eye, eh?

Then I had to humble myself and think about all those millions of people who looked to him for leadership....

not at all, my faith is not based on who the minister is. i think that when anyone gets in a position of power they have a struggle with pride, ministers are very human, pride has brought many high placed people back to their knees.

It is "accusations" and we are "innocent" until proven gulity in a court of law in this country. I dont question anything. The truth will comeout and set whoever free.

Not at all! We are all weak, religious or not religious, that's why Christians ask for forgiveness. I hope he seeks forgiveness and
I hope I never do anything so stupid, but if I do I sure hope i will
be forgiven.
