You know, losing weight is difficult. There are a lot of answers such as don't eat so much and exercise more. Those are valid ways to lose weight. The question is why are you over weight. What I mean is, are you addicted to food? Do you eat when you are upset? Do you watch a lot of TV?
I suggest getting into an organized sport. This way, you're a little more locked in to exercising. People are depending upon you. Try volleyball, soccer, or even karate. If you get in to karate, make sure you spar. You wouldn't believe the amount of calories you'd burn.
You also should see a dietician. I say that because you are only 13. You don't want to deprive yourself of essential nutrients that will hinder your growth.
Good luck with this journey. It is a long and difficult one.

Start with small, easy-to-achieve goals, so that that early success will motivate you. Don't worry about weight loss right away, so much as getting into good habits. And don't fall into the quick fixes, like purging. Someone close to me got into that stuff; it doesn't help, and it's very dangerous.
Pick easy targets: doing healthy things that you like. Talk to your mom/dad about shopping smarter for you - getting your favorite healthy snacks and meals instead of a something really fatty or oily. I'm sure if you're positive about it, she'll help.
Don't try to force yourself right away into a hard workout program, or eating only foods you hate. Consistency is the important part. Maybe a parent or friend would be willing to help by doing the same things you do - a support system can be extremely helpful.
Sometimes, results on the scale will take a while (for example, if you start working out, you may gain muscle mass while losing fat). But if you form the good habits early, the results WILL come. And nothing motivates you like success.

sitting in front of the TV all day wont help. you dont even have to join a gym im sure you can find some great exercises to do at home. also try not to eat just before sleeping.

honestly the best thing to do is get support. Go to Sparkpeople.com. They are a diet site that works with you to lose weight. There are support groups, recipes, exercises, calorie login. It is a great site. I have already lost 10 lbs on there. Tell them Firemansgirl001 sent you. YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT
They will help you do it in a healthy way, and by doing that you will be able to maintain it and not get it back.

DO NOT EAT SWEETS.... that is the main thing, and if your a couch potato thats not so great either, you need to excersice more often, you'd find this wierd but im 11 and i cant help eating sweets, but you need to lay off a bit, i have muscles almost as big as tony little(not exactly but very big), YOU HAVE TO EXCERSICE! It wont help to just feel sorry for yourself, and think about how bad being over weight is.

cut out ALL pop, and sugar. cut whatever you eat in half. only a half a sandwich, etc, drink 6 glasses of water every day, and start to walk for 15 minutes add 5 minutes a week until you are walking at least 30 minutes, if it is a dangerous neighborhood, do 200 jumping jacks a day.

Try out for all the sports teams at your school. Have your goal be to exercise and lose the weight, instead of making the team; that way, you won't be disappointed. Oh, and cut as much sugar out of your diet as possible. Good luck!

Eat less but more frequently. Find foods that are healthy and delicious. Lift weights AND do cardio. Stay away from carbs after lunch.

excercise six days a week.
Do a lot of running (cardio type stuff) and lift small light weights. Cut down bad food and eat more fruits/veggies.
