One of the keys to controlling your cat's hyperactive behavior is to make sure that she has the right toys that can channel her behavior. Always encourage and praise your cat for using her own toys and things.
SPAYING is a procedure in which a female cat's ovaries and uterus are surgically removed. The best time to have this procedure performed is before the age of six months or, if possible, before your female cat has her first heat. Aside from eliminating your cat's chance of getting pregnant, spaying also helps to prevent some undesirable behavior. When female cats are in heat, male cats can smell it and will often be roaming your house in an effort to court your cat. Not only this, but male cats will also feel the need to mark their territory and will consequently be urine-marking your house. Once your female cat is spayed, her behavior will be calmer and less active.
NEUTERING on the other hand, is the surgical process by which a male cat's testes are removed. The sooner your cat undergoes this surgery, the better his chances of avoiding any future behavioral problems. A clear advantage of this procedure is that it will greatly reduce your cat's chances of acquiring prostate cancer and other related health problems. As with spayed female cats, neutered male cats tend to be calmer and less aggressive. Furthermore, it will reduce your cat's spraying habits and will also help to control the cat overpopulation.
This might help your cats behavior and if not well play with him/her more or get another cat for them to beat up on!

If he is constantly Hyper, I suggest you take him to a vets, there may be a problem. If it lasts for less than an hour, then he sleeps, then as soon as he wakes up he is hyper again - he is just being a kitten. I have a cat or 16 and he still have his mad moments. He runs in from the garden, runs around the room and climbs up the wallpaper. He then starts crying because he can't get down anymore.

Could it be that you have had lots of disturbing noises what with Halloween and Guy Fawkes that have frightened him. Someone I know has cats that once in a while go crazy for no apparent reason. Perhaps it the moon freaking them out.

It is a kitten you answered your own question. As for the cords on your headphones put them away when not in use. If you don't want a kitten to play or touch something find a place a drawer a cabinet to put them away in. A kitten will explore, run, jump, climb on what ever is there to do so with. When it is about 6 months old get the kitten spayed/neutered and by 8 months old it should be out of it kitten stage. A kitten is a kitten is a kitten. Some are more active than others. R P CAT

Cats need a lot of stimulation. They will usually not be happy with just one toy. They need variety. You will, for a large part, have to deal with his behaviour as you try to train him, so patience is a very good thing!
Put his toys away until you are ready to play with him. Keep them in a drawer or closet, somewhere he can't get them. Set up a time you can be available, somewhere before bedtime and make this time "Kitty playtime". Perhaps use a word or symbol, like wrapping a scarf around your neck to begin to train him to know when "kitty playtime" is.
Play with him for 15 minutes or more. Get all his toys out and really give him a workout. Use a cheap stuffed animal you don't mind getting ripped up and wrestle with him with it. Get him a small ball to roll around or some small mice to chase. Use feathers on a stick, lasers, string, move them all around the room and up places for him to climb and jump to really work his muscles. Get a box, poke holes in it, and poke a pencil in and out to get him curious. Cats love boxes and bags. Be sure to praise him and give him a treat during this time so he anticipates it.
Do this everyday and hopefully, in time, you'll find he will calm down during the night and not have so much energry. During the day, if he climbs places you do not like, calmly squirt him with a water bottle (try to make it so the water will come out in a jet stream versus a spray) and say firmly "No". Hopefully he will begin to learn when it's appropriate to play and when it's not.

your cat is acting normal. most cats react this way. you say your cat is 1yr old still only a baby, try to play with it more, would you not consider letting it out , i feel a cat needs to be able to come and go as they please no matter how upsetting this can be for the owner. once your cat has freedom it will sleep for longer periods of time. hope this is of help to you lol.

It's those invisible mice mates of his. He has to chase them around the house, but he'll never catch them because they are just too damn fast. And they are in every house that owns a cat, there must be thousands of the little critters all over the world sent to torment the hell out of our little furry bundles of fun.
