God was never cruel but very patient and longsuffering with a very rebelious and stiff necked people. He never abandoned His covenant but to this day all the nations are being blessed in Abrahams Seed.

God was not cruel in the Old Testament - give one example of his 'cruelty'. Every punisment he meted out was just and deserved by that person. If someone does wrong, shouldn't he be punished for it? No, cruelty is never divine. It is not one of God's attributes.

Gee since Other nations made a choice to not give glory or worship God, they chose to worship other gods that they made up usually from the Babylons. Is God really cruel when he had Israel kill men women and children and animals of those nations?
Lets consider that those nations were involved in sacerficed infants to Baal , which meant putting living children into a burning fire and letting them burn to death. and of course all the homosexuality and bestiality that they were doing in those cities.
I'm not sure if you call God cruel.. maybe you have no sympathy and would not take a stand and put an end to behavior like letting children get raped and sacerficed to a clay statue ???????
Point being those nations knew who the true God was and chose not to obey his commandments. Hince they were guilty and deserved to die.

God wasn't cruel God is like a Parent to a Child when they spank thier children. If the children went out of line and acted up they would get a punishment. God does the same thing with his children.

This presumes that God is no longer cruel. If that's so, does that mean Christians are not cruel? God's mood and human tendencies seem to be mutually exclusive.

Jesus came to show us the Father because that is the very idea that people had back then. God is the same yesterday today and tomorrow. Hebrews 13:8 (new), Malachi 3:6(old)

God was not Cruel in the Old Testament. But He was just in his dealing with the Israelites when they were disobedient to his commandments. He will deal with our nation the same way eventually if we keep going the same way that we are going.

God said He was a jealous God !!!
The Jews were advised to follow God's commandments. They made idols and God got angry with them. Does that make Him cruel ?
When you begin raising your kids and they disobey, follow Gods example and spank them

I would not call God cruel. More like frustrated. He punished Israel for its disobedience, that's all.
