I did it for 10 years. I loved it, but it is a very stressful job. There is a lot of training to go through but it is rewarding to save a life, deliver a baby, or comfort someone. It is difficult to deal with the death and carnage that goes with the job. I wouldn't say this is a job for the squeemish.
I wouldn't know about the pay as I did it for a volunteer unit, one of the last run in the state of Wi. I started haveing kids and got very involved with their lives and just didn't have the time to do everything. So this is something I decided to give up.

like paramedics? i'm sure its a cool job, but you can make SO MUCH MORE MONEY as a nurse (like 40-50/hr in philly or washington dc). nursing takes only 2 years, and it SO WORTH IT. plus there's such a shortage that you'll find a job at ANY HOSPITAL OF YOUR CHOICE. BE A NURSE!

Sometimes yes sometimes no. No specially when you have to deal with dead with things you don't know, when patient do not respond to treatment, or when have a lot of work and you're so tired to move even a finger

Was one years ago - it is an incredibly satisfying job - but the pay sucks unless you want to work as a firefighter/paramedic.
