you have to get rid of the fleas at 8 months the pup can be dipped or a flea collar. Once the flea are gone the sores will go. You have to clean everything including blankets, kennels, outdoors your carpets in the house wherever the fleas came from. Repeat cleaning in about 10 days to kill the new hatched fleas. Dip will not need to be repeated so soon. Flea collars get replaced 1-3 months depending on the brand and season.
Long term use of cortisone will cause liver and kidney damage, it is a bad idea for a flea allergy. You dog will die young.

My dog has the same allergies to flea bites, I give her OTC allergy meds and once a week she gets an allergy shot. After months and months of her itching and not sure what was going on, our vet suggested going to an allergist and getting her on allergy shots...that has helped tons. I would check with your vet on different types of OTC meds your dog can take along with the right dose.

get rid of the fleas. use frontline, spray your yard, and get fleabusters... www.rxforfleas.com

you can get cortisone spray for her skin. but you have to get rid of the fleas first.

one of my 7 dogs has to get a cortisone shot occasionally because of flea allergies.

even with all the precautions against fleas, they still have to BITE the dog to be killed by Frontline. even flea spit can cause a reaction to dogs with severe flea allergies.

you cannot eradicate all the fleas, but you can eliminate most of them!
