When I put in homes I have lived in, like now, the maps are off. Like now, it has my house 1/4 of a mile down the street. The maps are supposed to be better than that.

I have yet to find a mapping program that gets my house location right. I think they just use the city's normal grids for the house numbers, but that doesn't take into account that not all the numbers are exactly "on the grid".

For example, around the corner from me, there is a house number 1058. Right next door to it is 1068. Then 1072. And we're talking standard house lots, not a big farm lot on several acres.

It is because Google pays refugees in Africa to proof the maps. These people live in the middle of a refugee camp and are expected to know that a restaurant can't be IN the street. Some of them have never even seen a street, much less know what a Kentucky Fried Chicken is.

Mapquest is better..always better...but i know what you mean. I tried the satelite on yahoo and the house they pointed out as mine wasn't mine at all..and i checked my boyfriends and that wasn't right either.

They calculate street addesses rather than storing the actual point.
