Red=war and violence for the red horse has taken peace from the earth and makes men slay each other and was given a large sword.Usually thats what wars do. Black=famine and food shortages for it has said a quart of wheat for a days wages and 3 quarts of barley for a days wages. This is being sold at ridiculous prices for that would be a whole day of work for just enough food to keep them alive.Obviously indicating a shortage of food. White=Brute militarism and it has come for the white horse was the conqueror bent on a conquest. Pale-Death and hell for the pale horse was given power over a 4th of the earth and those who will be judged guilty will either worship the beast or be killed by the sword, famine(will not be able to purchase goods),plague(boils on body),and wild beast of the earth the Lord will send. Most of these has come but hell has not.Let he who has wisdom understand. These are all symbolic for the birth pains Jesus has told us about. There are already plenty of anti christ who claim to be Christ or know what day the world will end. There is already war(red) and famine(black) in divers nations. And there are secret powers(white) operating to take control of the world. The anti christ that causes the desolation that causes abomination has not yet come(pale). But there are many anti christ. There are two different white horses. One represents brute militarism while the other represent Christ.

he first one is Jesus. He is riding out first because he is installed as king of the king dom as saviour under god's authority.
His conquering is the conquering of a king. As 1 John 3 v8 says for this reason Jesus was made known to the world.
The others are symbolic too. They are symbolic of big changes that would signify the time of the fulfillment.
Have we not seen great slaughter on the earth in recent history. Millions lost in every war unlike any other time in history pre 1900.
Also millions dying from starvation and from the Spanish flu.

Jesus opens up the first 4 Seal Judgments which basically start the end times.
1st Seal - White horse - the antichrist comes on the scene
2nd Seal - Red horse - takes peace from earth
3rd Seal - Black horse - famine
4th Seal - Pale horse - death
The tribulation (the end times) will then come on the world for 7 years. Then Christ returns to the earth.
Christians have the promise that they will be caught up to heaven prior to the seals being broken and the 7 year tribulation.

representation of what was once considered to be a sign of true horror/evil.
early Christians obsessed about the number 4, as did many of the general folk (4 corners of the world, mathew/mark/luke/john, the sign of the cross, 40days/nights etc)

Well, they are supposedly War, Pestilence, Famine, and Death. According to the Bible, they are chained at the junction of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers and will be unchained at the Apocalypse.
Death, the four Horseman... I think he's the Anti-Christ.
