sailors use to use the stars to guide thier ships, if the sky's were clear they had a safe voyage. A star tat is from the old sailors, hoping for a safe trip home... that the stars will guide them. But really a tat can mean anything you want it to mean, and placement isnt always about a particular meaning either. Placement could just mean thats where the person thought it would best, fit right for the size or a place it could easily be shown or hidden.
I have a large greek key arm band... I am not greek.. but it symbolizes a gift my husband once gave to me and was later stolen, no one will steal it now! :)

It's just a star above an elbow. There's really no meaning. A large percentage of tattooed people have stars somewhere on their body these days, so it's really not that uncommon.

My guess is nothing special! It's just something people choose to tattoo on themselves.
I have a star on the underside of my right wrist, and it has no meaning behind it.

It can mean anything you want it to mean. I have 3 stars on my foot that I got on my 16th birthday and I just got them to remember that day (and to get my first tattoo!!)

It represents generic. Tattoos are fantastic and can be beautiful but put some creativity and thought into your design.

it's not a star it's a web and it has to do with things that go on in the prisons with the gangs. don't you watch TLC ,DISCOVERY CHANNEL or try miami ink that show talks alot about different tatts. or better yet find an x-con and they could tell you all you need to know about prison and outside tatts.

Depends on the person its on. Tats mean different things to different people even if its the same design.
