(l´sĭfr) [Lat.,=light-bearing], in Christian tradition a name for Satan. In the Vulgate, Lucifer served as a translation of the Hebrew epithet meaning "Day Star," a name associated with the presumptuous King of Babylon in the Book of Isaiah. Some early Christian writers found a parallel in the Gospel of St. Luke, where Jesus refers to Satan falling like lightning from heaven. On this basis they identified Isaiah's "Day Star" with Satan and concluded that there was scriptural authority for designating him "light-bearer." In antiquity Lucifer was also the name given Venus as the morning star.

Satan and his demons are not in hell. The Bible does not teach that there is a fiery place of torment.Hell was a pagan belief that was fused into apostate Christianity in the fourth century CE.
Satan and his demons are in a prison like, abased condition called "tartarus"(2Peter2:4)It is a spiritual condition that does not allow the demons any spiritual enlightenment. They no longer have the light of God's favor and counsel.
In God's due time Satan and his demons will be abyssed and then they will face final destruction.
Satan was given free will as were all God's intelligent creation.Satan chose to misuse that gift and disobey God.There is no rip off.Satan knew what disobedience meant and its outcome. Now he awaits his destruction as do his fellow demons.(1Peter5:8)

Remember when he was cast from heaven, he fell as lightning to the Earth. He and his angels are roaming to and fro in the earth causing havoc with the people here on Earth. Only the saints who are praying are keeping us safe. But after God whips Satan's backside, he will be cast into chains of darkness, the saints will be gone and he will be loosed again I think for 1,000 years. People who didn't make the rapture will be here dealing with Satan with no saints praying for them. They will try to die and can't. Imagine trying to commit suicide and still live. But Satan will be overpower and chained in the bottomless pit forever. Read Revelations

Despite what we hear, mighty evil beings are still in the upper
worlds. Soon however, our world will go through a natural
disaster that will release billions of spirits from human beings
at once. And that will create a power that will open the doors to other realities. Isaiah 24:18.
At this time, there will be a major shake-up in the spirit world. And we will see things on this world we don't want to see!

he didn't exactly reject god...he was jealous and wanted to put himself above god. aparently the angel Lucifer perverted gods teachings which is what got him cast from heaven.
Christianity views Satan as an angel cast from heaven by God, for being prideful, deceitful, and the tempter.
