Binini, I can understand the appreciation for a country where your ancestry originated, but when the line is drawn, which country is your loyalty to? The one that your family left behind in a quest for a better life in a country with more freedom and a better quality of life, or the country that you are currently residing in and enjoying the quality of the life granted to you BECAUSE of its laws and policies.

jgarcia81, you have issues beyond the norm. I find it hard to believe that every generation of your family was treated badly because of their race or skin color...maybe attitude played a part.

KarinaG, how can you acuse America of not having any humanitarian concerns? We are the most generous nation in the world and that can be backed up by facts!
Could the "people" that you speak of that feel that they are treated as second class citizens possibly be illegal and trying to stay in the shadows because they know that they are breaking the law or are they citizens here that have not taken the time to open their eyes to all of the different empowerment programs for minorities? If you feel that you have been treated as a second class citizen because of your heritage or skin color then you are most likely mistaking low self esteem and your own resentment for your social class for something that nobody else is responsible for but you.

This is the problem with illegal immigrant they are loyal to their country of origin and all they care about is that country. This is the reason they don't care what they do here in the USA, legal or illegal, all they know that this is not their country and they don't care. Experts say that we the American people have to wait two or three generations of their born in order for them to be loyal to the USA and that's not even guarantee. Mean while they corrupt, steal and drain our economy. You cannot served to god because when the time comes you are going to hate one of them, you have to pick who you are going to serve.Do you think that fair, I don't. I'm an American, proud and will give my life for my country. I almost did in Vietnam as a Special Forces officer.

To begin with, America is a Continent, not a country. Your country is called the United States of America. The fact that somehow along the way the rest of the countries in the continent lost the right to call ourselves Americans is topic for another forum For now and for the sake of dicussion let's assume we are talking about the United States of America when we say America or American, ok?
Second, to answer your question, it is maybe easier for descendants of other cultures to maintain loyalty to that culture than to express loyalty to a country where they are discriminated and treated like second class citizens. A country which was build and founded by inmigrants from so many countries. When you sit back and try to decipher what the REAL American heritage or culture would be, it is very hard to outline it. Is it really the heritage of european inmigrants? or is it the culture of native Americans? is it the culture of the descendants of the English?, the Irish?, the Germans? or of the Spanish settlers who were already here when the border wasr drawn in the South? And when you take a look at America today and try to pick out the few things one can associate with let's say...the white American culture (if we are assuming its the valid one or the one you are talking about), these are so few, so commercially imposed, market-driven, so individualistic (characteristic of a consumers' society build by the great corportations to massify culture) that certainly, many people would find other cultures that have survived for centuries or milleniums with values like humanity, solidarity, mutual community support, more attractive than this one. It is sad, it is not my wish that this be so, but I think I am not wrong in my appreciations. Maybe in the future, if the U.S. focuses more on humanity and less on business and market values, this will change. It is sad that schools do not promote more human values and less competition. For the moment, it is a wolf against wolf society, the survival of the fittest and the annullment of the weak in the hands of the powerful. In this culture, your are considered "better" if you succeed in business, have money, a car, a house, no matter the cost, as opposed to being a better human being, helping others, doing something for your community and elevating your general knowledge of the world, arts, science and other cultures.

My loyality is not to the countries. It is to the south American Indians that come from this south American countries.I am against the oppression by white people, these Indians have put up with.Sometimes it is hard to understand but Mexico has white people. These white people come from spanish blood. They are really spaniards. They control the wealth of Mexico.Mexico is a rich country but they refuse to take care of the Indians.
I am for closing the border completely and making the white people from Mexico take care of the Indians. This will not happen until the US closes the borders and puts sanctions on Mexico.
Now , there has always been discrimination against brown skin people who are called Mexican-Americans in Texas. The hate has always been there it did not start with the illegal alien problem.White Americans are saying it is because of the illegal alien problem and not racism. That is a bunch of bull.My ancestry going back at least 5 generations has always been discriminated by white people.Guess what they were all born in Texas.Yet we were all called Mexicans. The bashing of white Americans starts when illegal aliens are put down. It is not a crime to want to make living.Instead of bitching about it how about some solutions.I do not need much incentive. I have plenty of hate for the way I was treated. I can continue the bashing of white Americans.

What you're seeing is the result of decades of indoctrination in liberal colleges and government run schools whose administrations are filled with similarly left-leaning people. That's the Big Trick of the liberal left, the socialists, marxists, homosexual activists, etc! Mainly, when your position is logically indefensible, seek positions of influence in education and indoctrinate the next generation! It's worked brilliantly. Another common tactic is to hurl accusations and labels (hater, whateverphobe, racist, etc) to try to intimidate good people into being quiet.
As a result, a whole generation (or two) of Westerners has grown up bombarded with the BS that "the white man", particularly heterosexual Christian males are the root of all evil, the Founding Fathers were responsible for genocide, Americans have no right to be on the continent, religion is the source of all wars, free condoms and free needles is the key to wiping out teenage pregnancy and AIDS, abortion isn't the ending of a human life, appeasing dictators and terrorists will get them to like us and we'll all live happily ever after, etc, etc, etc... Fantasy.
I highly recommend that *everyone* read David Kupelian's excellent book "The Marketing of Evil: How Radicals, Elitists and Pseudo-Experts Sell Us Corruption Disguised As Freedom". It's extremely enlightening. You can read the many rave reviews of it. You'll also find people trashing it. What's telling is that the latter group always resorts to name calling and outrage rather than reason. Why? I refer you back to paragraph one.

That is amazing isn't it? They teach their young to hate.
You cannot expect millions of illegal aliens from one civilization to enter the country, abandon all loyalties and values of their old civilization and sign up, with all of those of the new one they have entered.
The marching immigrants of recent days commanded by their puppeteers behind their movement demanded for full rights of American citizens and will settle for nothing less. While carrying foreign flags.
These immigrants are insincere and America has to question their loyalty towards the United States.
The time has come to demand enforcement of our laws concerning illegal immigration and to severely limit legal immigration.

Patriotism is a politicized religion for fools. Political correctness is the card played by liberals, patriotism is the card played by conservatives. How many different ways can you get your citizens not to communicate. So yes, America does have a lot of patriotism, for the same reason we have a lot of racism and sexism, because the box with all the pretty picture tells us to.

sorry but how can someone even consider themselves american when others referr to them as "anchor babies"?or talk bad about their heritage and family.don't know about the rest on here but anyone calls my family names or disses my roots and you can bet they are going to a boot up their @ss.and yes i do wear the steel toed kind.My pride lies with the person who gave birth to me,fed me and gave me shelter. And my loyalty lies with those that show compassion and don't try and make themselves feel better by downgrading and insulting others.asl well as with all the officers and military service people who are out there risking their lives so that I can sleep peacefully at night.
