Yes rice is starchy but, if you want to use it wash it in a pan, by poring Cold water over the rice just enough to cover, and then,swirl the water around a fiew times,and wou will see the water turn cloudy ( this is the starch ) Pour this away and do it a fiew more times. This reduces the amount of starch intake, but by the very nature of rice it cant be eliminated. Happy Eating.

It's not a type of starch.
It's a source of starch.
By that, I mean, you can get starch from rice in quite high quantities.
In fact, you can get starch from almost any vegetable in varying quantities.
The starch is formed from the sugars in the plant once it's been harvested.
That's why fresh vegetables that have just come straight out of the ground will always taste sweeter and better than veg from the supermarket.
