s**? I have known him for almost 3 years. He's kind of shy and has told me that I would have to make the first move. I haven't. Our e-mails, texts, calls are usually pretty steamy, but when I see him, he treats me like a queen. I almost think he is in love with me (look in his eyes). If there is no good way of telling, should I ask? And how do I ask that?

if he was just after sex he would be asking in person === he prob sees the emails and phones as safe --- ie no chance of real sex

in person he allows you the control --- so your feelings and his respect for them means he will wait until you are ready --- no matter how long it takes

Wholly Moley, how much more do you need. He is probably a virgin (if there is such a thing) and doesn't know what to do. If your communications with him are 'steamy' it is a sure sign that he wants to have sex with you, and you want it with him. If he wants you to make the first move, and you are okay with sex (I assume you are both consenting adults), then go for it. The sex thing is pretty obvious, but I don't know about the love thing.
Do you feel like you are in love with him? If not, then he is probably just infatuated with you. Because, love seems to be a two way thing. If you want to know how he feels, tell him how you feel.

I think that he truly loves you because he's telling you to make the first move not the other way around. He also treats you well so you found yourself a great man. So don't lose him women would die to have a guy like that!

Seems strange. Three years, and he hasn't tried a move with you? Most guys usually expect at least a really good kiss after the third date, if not more.

How do you feel about him before you jumo into askign him how he feels you need to ask yourself that. If the answer is yes you do like him than make the first move (not sex). Tell him you want to take things slow because you are friends.

Why would it really matter? If the sex is good - go with it! It may turn into a relationship, it may not - either way, you're still getting some - and that's a good thing, right?
