Having bartended for almost 10 years, unless your state requires licensing to bartend (which some do, not sure about NY), I would highly recommend not wasting your time taking classes. Learn basic drinks, and fake it till you make it. There's no such thing as bad alcohol and mistakes are the easiest way to learn how to do anything. I started as a waiter and worked my way to bar and every person that I've met that spent time "taking classes" usually ended up amending or discarding whatever knowledge they took with them from the classes.

Good luck.

It relies upon. It relies upon at right here you're finding to bartend. the great plus is which you get your bartending license. regardless of if, you will get that from a community tech college in approximately 4 hours, and now and back even online. while you're finding at a working at a fancy nighclub, or commonplace bar it would in all probability help because of the fact it would provide you some thought of the recipes. while you're finding at working at a eating place maximum cases they prefer to coach their own bartenders and could pay for the license. On a sidenote- maximum bartending colleges do supply placement guidance.
