It wouldn't be any different than one dying. The Holy Spirit would help in selecting a new Pope, and the Church would go on until Jesus returns in glory. That would be the day when whoever is the current Pope would hand the keys back over to Jesus.

As it stands a Pope cannot resign. The only way for him to stop being a pope is to die. Plus Popes have started wars, secured land for children sucked peasants dry ect. Most Catholics know and understand the history of the church and are still Catholics. So if the rules changed and a Pope could resign, aside from some happy cardinals Catholics on the whole wouldn't change his or her own faith.

Why would you think it would have any effect on my faith? The Pope is not the source of my faith. As a Catholic, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the source of my faith. The Pope is only a worker in the vineyard (albeit the supervisor), as we all are.

The Pope is an antiChrist who teaches the masses a false gospel of Jesus.

As a christian myself, i do not care for the Pope. Their faith is a little different than mine, people think of the Pope as a GREAT GREAT GREAT man... when he's just an elected guy.. we didn't elect God! God was always there, and always great.

not much. i mean, im a christian, but i don't really see the pope as the godly figure that they portray him as. this is the 21st century and they still won't allow female priests. women fought for their rights in the 20s!

I'm a Christian, so I wouldn't really care, that's the Catholic religion. I would be interested in a news standpoint though, but that's just because i'm a broadcasting major.

not at all. i'm not Catholic, i'm non-denominational, so i don't look to the pope for leadership, i look straight to God and the Bible.
