I would at least base your rate at what minimum wage is in your state. I think $5 is too generous, and having my own kid, $5 is not enough for what you may endure while babysitting. If you're lucky, the 8-year-old can help entertain the 6-year-old. I would at least charge $9.00 an hour.

6 and 8 year olds will pretty much entertain themselves and it should be easy money. Some of the answers of 8-10$ is a joke (as a mom) if you told me that price I would laugh and NEVER have you back. $8-10 is ABOVE minimum wage. I think $5 per hour for the two kids is fine, maybe $3-4. Do you want this to become a regular job? Don't scare the mom off with tooo high of a price. If the kids are horrible then raise your price.

I would pay $8 an hour for a first time babysitter, especially for two kids. After more experience, increase your rate to $10 an hour! Good luck and be careful!

Since they are older kids Id charge 10.00 an hour. Day cares are so expensive now a days so your actually saving her alot of money by charging 10.00.

I have always paid my babysitters $5/hour for 2 kids, 2 and 5. Seems like more than enough. She has always been happy with that payment.

Charge $4 an hour per child. This is what I charged when I did childcare in my home. Good luck with your new job!
