Yes absolutely, he ordered hundreds of thousands of Kurds to be gassed to death. He was sadisitic and had two awful sons who would rape and torture at will. My only concern is that hanging Saddam will just inflame the situation in Iraq as it will make him a martyr and will annoy his followers

Actually, that's not very creative. I would like to see him beheaded...with an old crosscut saw.
Hanging is OK, but it's more for the average sort of criminal. I am sure that someone of Hussein's standing, would feel that he deserves better...a more graphic ending would be perfect...something with drama, and an element of terror, and for that, you need to have a head roll.
Now, there are many ways to do this...axes, swords, guillotines all come to mind. But the militants in that area seem to favor a slower approach, so I would be in favor of an old carpenter's hand powered saw, like the ones they used before the invention of the circular saw. It would be slow enough provide plenty of pain, and by the third or fourth stroke of the blade, each cut sawing deeper through muscle and nerves, I am sure it would cause him an appropriate level of terror.
More likely, he will just join O.J. on a golf course somewhere as he continues the search for the real killers. There isn't much real justice left in the world, only laws.

Where will it all end? It's a bit like the Old Lady who swallowed a spider to catch the fly so on and so.....Though of course he has to die as it will all be a little hypocritical and futile if he doesn't. And all those people who have died will have died in vain if Saddam is allowed a leaner sentence than that of the death penality.
Though it makes you think that he is now being made a scape goat for Buch and Blair.

I think he is as bad as they come. I don't believe that his death will achieve anything but making another Suni martyr.
Prison - real Iraqi lice ridden filthy prison like they had under him - not the improved modern version which they have now, for life.
He was found in a rat hole - most appropriate.
The only thing to do is to keep him in prison for life, probably without parole. He wrought unspeakable evil on his country and some of his Suni people still bring horrific misery even today.
May God guide those who will pass sentence on him.

i'm always on the fence as to whether someone as evil as Saddam should be made to suffer for his entire life, or killed. i know cruel and unusual punishment is unconstitutional, but i really think somtimes that they should spray him with female horse urine, then feed some bucks a few viagra and just push saddam in the pen. there are few men as evil as Saddam.
(this still doesnt mean we have the right to police the world.)
it should be up to his ppl to decide what his fate is.

If they do,then Bliar and Bush should be on the gallows beside him for their part in the deaths of many innocent Iraqis, when Saddam was in power there was not the bloodshed and strife that there is now under American and British "protection",If this man is executed it will be under victor's "justice",done purely as an act of revenge.

If they hang him for the crimes against his own people, I wait with baited breath to see if Bush and Blair will go after the leaders of countries such as N. Korea, China, Zimbabwe?

No, life imprisonment is worse than a death penalty, so he
will be able to re-live all of the horrors that he committed
and, in his cell, remember the abusive wealth and luxurious
surroundings that once were his but no longer are nor will
ever be again. Apart from the above, I am against the death
penalty.

Personally, I am against capital punishment - death is the easy way out for committing crimes against humanity, I believe those who murder should be made to suffer in prison for their whole entire lives. I'm also not sure that if he is hung it will be a good thing for Iraq, theres already enough instability, and there could be even more, even if uprisings against his death are temporary.

Hang him by the neck until he is dead - make an example of him - there will be an increase in insurgency for a while but then it will die of - this is the ' decapitation '
saddam is the only muslim leader to inspire them alot besides osama - at least if you get rid of one you only have one other to worry about - the rest of the leaders are negligable as far as us security goes
