I dont know if it needs a DC or AC adapter either but mainly I just need to know how many volts.

Turns out there is no tiny diagram next to the power inlet to let me know if its AC or DC but I did find out from someone on ebay who was selling the same item that it's AC, I think it's 9V because my 6V and my 12V wont work on it.

I believe it is 12VDC with the tip positive. There is a tiny diagram molded into the plastic next to the power connector that will give you this information. Places like Radio Shack and Wal-Mart sell universal power supplies that you can set up to work with the AT&T 1715.
