it's not common for a teen to get lice, i know. But the fact is, i do, and it's really embarrassing and i need a way to get rid of it. I've tried several different lice shampoos like RID and NIX, but it's not working. I'm not going to shave my hair off, so i need a solution that will actually work. I think i'm going to try the whole mayo in the hair over night thing tonight, but i'm not so sure it would work.. Can someone please help me with a real solution? ='(

The mayo thing totally works.
Be sure to wrap your head in something plastic as tightly as you can.
You might have to do it for more than one night but it will work, and it's not toxic chemicals !
Make sure you wash all of you bedding and clothes etc. in hot water and dry them on high heat too.
Good Luck !

I just posted this to another person but the answer is the same in this case, I hope this doesn't get me into trouble as some sort of spammer but I get the same questions over and over about head lice and you can only same the same thing so many different ways! Anyway I hope it is OK

I own a company that produces an FDA registered head lice cure but I don't intend to try to sell you anything because you can help yourselves in this instance.

I will copy below the advice we send to customers waiting for orders so they can make progress straight away.

Curing head lice is a REMOVAL problem. If you remove everything that doesn't belong in your hair your head lice problem will end. It has to!

I will also post a link below that explains why head lice appear to go away but comeback time after time. Once you have read this you will crack your problem.

Here is the advice:

" You can do a load of good work right now.

Forget about killing head lice, just think--REMOVE

If you have a fine comb and can locate some oil
like sweet almond, from a health food store, or
even sunflower from a food store you can do a lot
of good right now by removing any larger lice that
may be in the hair.

Don't use Vaseline, kerosene or mineral oils
they are awful to wash out and dangerous as
they can catch fire!

Just check before you start that the oil you have
will dissolve in your regular family shampoo by
rubbing bit of the oil on your fingers and then
washing with the shampoo.

Work a small amount of the oil into the roots of
the hair while it is dry and then comb gently with
the finest comb you can find.

You will get out an amazing mixture of rubbish
including big head lice and even some eggs.

10-15 minutes combing is fine. Just so long as you
round up all the big fat adult lice.

These are laying between 6 and 8 eggs, per day,

and are creating tomorrow’s lice. These will come

our very easily if you have them stuck in slippery oil.

Shampoo out the excess oil and chill out for a
couple of days then repeat the process.

You are harmlessly removing the lice that can and
will lay down more eggs so you have already started
to eradicate this population.

When you get your order switch to the NITMIX Wet
Combing Aid and this will make the head lice even
easier to get out.

Don't be fooled by how simple and gently this is; it works! "

The repeat cases of head lice are almost certainly due to you not fully clearing them up and in 2-3 weeks the numbers build back up and Boom! away you go again.

Well you can go to Wall-Mart and get RID or NIX but what ever the treatment double it you need to put all your bedding in sealed garbage bag for 6 hours and then wash in hot water including pillows. Use white vinegar let set 15 minutes on hair if that doesn't work last option go to a feed store get one gallon of cow dip it's to keep lice and fly's off of cattle pore it over your hair and leave it as long as you can take it burns like hell but you'll never have lice again I have kids and live on a farm lice are a pain but that's the only way I've found that works.....

Two words-- Lice Meister

You can find it at many drug stores and they sell it on many websites. It is the only thing you will ever need. It is a metal toothed comb that removes the live ones and ALL of the eggs! Put a sheet down and go through your hair in sections. Check the comb after every comb through and put the live ones in a cup of water to drown them.

Stop using those shampoos, they are toxic!

I think the only thing missing from the other answers is how many times you need to use the lice shampoo before you get rid of them all. Read the instructions very carefully.

Try using it every other day for a week or something. It's going to be annoying but I hope it pays off.

-LEAVE those who you got the infection from.
-DON'T spend nights over at their houses.
-DON'T let them spend nights over at yours.
-DON'T borrow or lend personal stuff, like hair brushes and hair scarves. (Even better don't borrow or lend anything personal).

By the way, it's common fo teenagers to get lice because of the stuff I just said before.

U can't just wash ur hair with the shampoo. U have to pick the nits out with the comb. Throw out ur old hairbrush. Change ur sheets and wash ur pillow. Even if the shampoo killed all the lice, u would keep reinfecting urself if u don't take care of everything else that u sleep on and use on ur hair.

Wash your hair with lice shampoo. Spray all of your bedding with rid and all furniture with it. Soak your brushes and combs in bleach for about 30 minutes to an hour.

Do not share your brushes, clothes, etc with anyone. It helps a great deal.

Have you ever heard the term "nit-picky" that what it's all about. You have to be scrupulously clean and change all your bedding and treat all your carpets and do all your laundry that possibly could have any eggs or anything on them.

You have to comb out with the "nit comb" every day and wash your bedding and clothes again if you find any live ones or eggs. It is thoroughness that will win in the long run.

Wash your hair twice a day and there are some special shampoo you can use. Also wash any of your comforters, sheets and couches or anything that you may think Lice might be hiding in. when you see any in your hair make sure you don't leave a part of them in there. They will multiply in on your head and make more.

You must not be applying it properly. That stuff is for very limited use. See a pharmacist, don't be embarrased, since you're just another in a long line of people who get lice, and completely wash the sources of the lice, clothing, sheets, blankets, everything, in very hot water.
