Is it available in the U.S. to eat. It really has a distinct flavor to it.

When I was in China, I probably ate dog (which in some areas is quite common and considered a delicasy.).....not that anyone in my group told me. I enjoyed everything I ate, except the Tofu.
It is not available in the USA. To kill a dog to eat it is considered animal abuse and is punishable in a court of law...usually by jail time!

I'm pretty sure that that it is within the US legal limits to eat a dog that you did not kill that is dead....provided you did not dig it up and the owner (if not you), allows for it. However, you would have to eat it pretty fast after it died or store it in a refrigerated area within a few hours of death. Looks like you're in a reaaaally difficult position unless you move to China....

and selling dog is out of the question.

I can't believe some of the answers here. If you don't understand the history of why people eat dogs, then don't answer. -_- Personally, I never tried dog. But some of my friends have and they say that it didn't taste like beef, chicken, etc. In america, because dogs are pets, it is not okay to eat dogs. I think it might be illegal here.

No, thankfully dog meat is not available in the US and they are trying to ban its consumption in China. Would you eat your best friend?

The answer is no. Eating a dog is like becoming a cannibal.

I have read that in Chinese cuisine you can cook anything in four legs, but the table, and anything flying, but a plane.

I probably would eat it because I love Chinese cooking - I will remember not to ask what it is in my plate if I ever visit China.

I don't thik you will be able to find dog meat in the USA.

I thought that they ate dog was an urban myth, guess I was wrong. Well then, if you plan on eating man's best friend why don't you just open your fastfood chain network and serve dogburgers! That is just sick

This is for those people who find eating dog disgusting - what about beef, pork and chicken? What's the difference? Do you know that pigs are smarter than dogs? How can you eat pork while claiming to be a dog-lover or animal-lover? Oh I am vegetarian by the way.

i think that eating dogs is wrong. but i would also like to try. and eating dogs is not like cannibalism. cannibalism is eating ur own kind. eating dogs is not ur own kind, it's another species. now, i say eating monkey is ur own kind. cause i've heard tales and storiesof ppl eating monkey brain somewhere.

could u email me and tell me how dogs taste like? is it that good?
