Green is supposed to be calming or soothing and it is also a color that shows dirt well so that things can be cleaned and disinfected properly.

Actually, The theory came out in the mid 20th century that green is the opposite color on the color wheel from red and that it sooths the eye to look at green after viewing a lot of blood. You actually see gray, when you look up from viewing blood to view a green wall.

In the hospital where I work the walls in the OR are white, but green is suppose to be relaxing to the people that have to work in there.
