Rods and cones are the photorecepters in your eyes. The rods can operate in dim light, but just in black and white. Cones require bright light, but allow you to see in colour.

The photoreceptors called rodds are responsible for night vision and peripheral vision. They do not see color.

rods are for nightvision.
cones are for color.
