Recently had a small car wreck in which my lower back was hurt. Found out that I had a problem with my spine and had to go to physical therapy. The wreck was not my fault. What do I need to expect from a settlement with the other person's car insurance?

When you say 'physical therapy' are you talking about a chiropractor? If so, you may as well be going to a witch-doctor. Like Chris said, lower back pain is seldom related to a collision other than just aggrevating a condition that is already there. If a REAL doctor is treating you then the insurance company will review your meds and make a decision based on facts, tests and the other 10,000 claims they have handled in the past. To the dorks that are telling you to run to a lawyer be warned: lawyers work only for themselves 100% of the time and in no way assures you of one cent above what the insurer considers a fair settlement. By the way, the lawyer will get 40% of that no matter what.

You are most likely not going to get full reimbursement from the insurance company unless its a minor amt of money. Also if the coverage that the other person had on there policy is not enough to pay for your medical bill, you may need to file a claim on your own auto policy for med expense to cover the diff, and the adj from your insurance can help you with that.Just by filing a claim with you insurance company doesnt mean you rates will go up.Worse case scenario you may need a personal injury attorney like listed below.Good luck

First, you don't need an attorney to settle your claim. Secondly, I'm not sure what kind of impact you had, whether it was a rear-end or not, but a low back injury is not the most common injury. That's the most protected part of the spine in a vehicle seat. It has the most protection. In any event, what your claim is worth varies by so many things, location of your accident, how your state's laws work, your age, health conditions, symptoms, length of treatment, prior injuries, etc. that no one can tell you here what your claim is worth. If it was a minor accident especially don't expect a big payday.

GET A PERSONAL INJURY LAWYER and let them deal with the other persons insurance companies LAWYERS.If you agree to what the other persons insurance company offers without consulting A PERSONAL INJURY LAWYER odds are you will get SCREWED ROYALLY,as the insurance company of the person who IS AT FAULT in the accident pays their LAWYERS to get you to settle for the SMALLEST AMOUNT POSSIBLE if you deal with them directly while your PERSONAL INJURY LAWYER will try to get you the most they can as their fee is a percentage (usually 1/3RD) of how much they get for you.
