We are the worlds only Elite Brigade! In this uniform we are on cerimonial duties and Royal Guard duties.

In normal role we are elite infantry regiments who are always first in in all major conflicts with our histories dating back to the 1600s!

5 Regiments of Footguards make up the Brigade of Guards being,
Grenedier Guards, Welsh Guards, Scots Guards, Irish Guards, Coldstream Guards. ( this is how we form up in order ) add to this the 2 mounted Regiments of Life Guards and The Blues and Royals and you get the Household Division.

Hope this points out what we are and what we do.

They are first and foremost professional infantry soldiers. Secondly they are used in ceremonial duties such as the Queen's birthday celebrations which pulls in allot of tourism.

The Guards consist of 5 infantry regiments; the Grenadier Guards, the Coldstream Guards, the Welsh Guards, the Scots Guards and the Irish Guards.

They're the Royal guards. It's a ceremonial thing to wear the No 1's or best uniform for it, but take note, the rifles are loaded and the bayonets are sharp.

It's not their permanent job, it's simply a tour of duty. A few years either side of that they were probably in a tent in some hot sandy place or based elswhere in the UK mainly wearing DPM's (Disruptive Pattern Material)
