who said I have a computer and I do have a job a car note, student loans, credit card debt, living expenses, and bills that take up my little paycheck. I rather sleep in a car than in a shelter next to a sicko holding my belongings in my arms

Staying in a shelter is not like a sleep over. It isn't very pleasant. Theft is very common. Anytime you put any people together in that close of proximity, there are going to be problems - especially when they are total strangers and already under stress. A good number of them are not going to have the best social skills - or hygiene skills. Some shelters also require you to be sober in order to check in - one beer can get you tossed out. Some shelters do drug testing. Many require you have a Tuberculosis vaccination on records before you can stay there. The overwhelming majority of shelters do not allow pets - so if you have a pet, you don't stay in a shelter. And lets say your car is your one possession - you need to to travel to look for a job or get food or whatever - what are you going to do with it when you are staying in the shelter? If it gets impounded or ticketed you probably don't have the money to get it back out again. So.....you sleep in your car.

Look into filing bankruptcy. That can get rid of some of your bills so you can actually live on the money you make. If your credit is that bad and you have no place to live, how are your creditors finding you to send you a bill? Quit paying them (except for your car payment), and find a place to live using that money. You'll probably have to do it through a roommate without putting your name on a lease. Eventually, the creditors may find you, but you can save some money in the meantime so you have something to show for your job.
Oh, and getting a second job always helps you get ahead faster. I worked a day job and waited tables at night for two years so I could pay off my debts and save money for a down payment on a small condo. Yes, it's hard. No, you don't have any time to yourself. But so what? Do what you have to do and don't make any excuses. Life is hard, but it's no excuse for doing less than what you're able to.

Without knowing if you're healthy, your age or your skill level(s) it's pretty hard to give good specific suggestions. However, if you have the skills, a little education, and no adult felony convictions, have you ever thought about going overseas on a contract. Large companies pay 50-150 thousand yearly to qualified blue collar work level workers. especially in hot areas like Iraq. Money is tax free too. Also, off shore oil rigs pay very good wages. Look at what the Air Force/Navy has to offer, as some of their electronics skills, which they teach, are in extreme need in the civilian work force. (personally, I'd love to fly one of those unmanned surveillance drones with a Hellfire missile on it) Get on the net and research by looking at Govt Jobs. It really sounds like you're mentally stuck where you are. You need to go global with your thinking and get the Hell out of your rut..

you can take melatonin and 5 htp to help the nightmares go away. i would strongly suggest you start hitting up churches even if you have no personal religious beliefs. old school churches generally have assistance programs. don't bother with evangelicals and the lot -- look for unitarians and catholics. churches have offices like any business. get their business hours and make an appointment and go. i don't know what part of the universe you are in. roommates.com might help you find a room to rent in someones house. people generally are more humane than apt complexes. if you are under 24 covenant house will help if there is one where you are.

There is one way out of this mess, thanks to your President, G. Bush. If you have a mental illness, walk with a cane, over 35 years of age high school drop out. The United States Army will take you and send you to Iraq. There you will have food, money, shelter an if you are lucky you will not come home in a box.
Serve your country, beats sleeping in your car. Plus they will even teach you new skills that you may be able to apply if you survive Iraq or Afghanistan.
This is not a joke as I have been a volunteer doctor working in refugee camps located in war zones. (Plus I have been in Afghanistan and Iraq). Believe me they really need your service to your country.

Being homeless sucks. There is a reason so many people get stuck in that situation and anyone who assumes most people choose that life are very misled and clueless to the realities. The "system" is confusing and difficult to navigate and severely lacking in actually being helpful. That being said, there are places to go for help. It can be tricky to discover exactly who to ask, but whenever you do talk to one agency or whatever, ask them for any other places they can recommend to help you. Look in your local phone book. There is help out there to aid you in getting on your feet. Do not lose hope, you can get back on those feet and move on from there.

I'd suggest checking out shelters or asking at churches. Getting a job will also help with money.

Could you not contact the religious/charity organizations in and around where you live? Until you get a job, you could be offered a place where you could live. Believe in god. Go to any temple or church. All the best.

Find stable employment, try renting a place with someone with decent credit to cosign with you. Having bad credit isn't a death sentence... trust me. My advice find a significant other and let it go from there.
