A round of golf, like a dinner or any other form of entertainment can be tax deductible if necessary or used in the course of doing business. This and dozens of other circumstances can be considered being "paid" to play golf. Anyone who is actually paid money based on their advanced skill for golf is considered a "professional" by the USGA.

If you look in the back pages of Golf monthly you'll see ads offering training as a golf coach. You don't actually have to be a pro to do this. Just have a knack for teaching or passing on knowledge. Plus a good eye.

If your good enough to turn professional on the tour or working in a golf club pro shop giving lessons, this requires exams and schooling as you have to be qualified to do so!!
