This one is kinda tricky -- (1) We have both been married before -so the announcement can not start off with "The parents of DinaJ would like to announce...blablah" I mean I'm 26 and he's 35 so our parents arent announcing anything, we are. lol.
(2) Most engagement anncments end with what date the couple plans on getting married - well... we havent set a date - we're in no hurry to get married- we've joked about getting married in 2010. I mean it doesnt sound really romantic to put in the newspaper "They havent yet set a date".
Can anyone think of a way to word the announcement??Help Please!!!

Just do something simple like:

Jane Doe and John Smith are happy to announce their recent engagement. The engagment took place on (date) and the couple is excited as they begining planning for their lives together.

or

On DATE, John Smith asked Jane Doe to be his wife - and she said yes! The couple is excited to announce that they are planning to unite their lives in marriage.

It's not quite as tricky as you think it to be...Instead of having your parents names in the paper, just use your own names just as you said. You would be the ones announcing your engagement. And as far as not setting a date yet, that doesn't really even have to be a problem either. It could say something like "The couple is tentatively planning a (summer, spring, winter or fall) 2010 wedding." Or "The ceremony date is pending", although I wouldn't personally go for that one myself. Just try to get a rough estimate of your wedding date before you go to the newspaper. And you know what? People set dates all the time and that original date doesn't always pan out. Either way, it will be fine. Don't stress. It will all work out just as it's supposed to either way. :) Good luck.

"DinaJ and 'Mr. Right' are pleased to announce that they will be celebrating their love by getting married!"
-- that may be a good way to start off, or something similar

"Even though they are eager to marry, DinaJ and 'Mr. Right' have decided to enjoy the engagement for some time. You cannot put a date on love!"
-- maybe this will help you end the announcement

Oh, but be sure to use his real name, not Mr Right... but that would be funny though!

Congrats on the engagement! I wish you the best of luck with your new love!

I don't know really how to answer your question...why are you announcing it in the newspaper? It's a cute idea but if you're going to stress about it, and I'm sure it costs money...why are you doing it? Can't you just say ___ and ___ got engaged on October x, 2006. They are planning on a long engagement!

yay!

umm what about ______(your name) and _____(his name) or vice versa on the order and proud to announce to the world that they are madly in love with each other and cannot wait to spend eternity together.

That's all I got but it's a start

Call the paper you pan on posting it in and they can have someone help you write it out.
