I will be "vacationing" in Washington, D.C on the 13 through the 17 and I have never been there before! My agenda includes dinner theatres, a zoo, Hard Rock Cafe, the Capitol building and the White House, and, of course, the mall - and by that I mean the mile long line up of historical museums, not shopping stores...anybody ever been to any of these places that could help me out? All I'm looking for is some bits of information. Thanx in advance!

The Smithsonian Institution has numerous museums along the Mall, and it would take weeks to see everything in every one of them. So plan accordingly. Try to set some priorities as to what really interests you. My family's favorites are the Museum of American History (but I believed it's closed for renovations) and the Air and Space Museum. Plan what you'd like to see at the Smithsonian using this guide:

If you remember anything about the Vietnam War, then you have to see the Wall. It is to me the most moving memorial in all of Washington. Here's some information about the monuments along the Mall:

Of the other places you mentioned, I'd skip the Hard Rock Cafe--they are the same all over the world -- noisy, crowded, and lousy food. The National Zoo is great; it'll take you the day to see it. And before you get your heart set on setting foot inside the White House, check out this information:

i live in Va so i have been there: here is some info
prepare for a lot of walking! the mall is long
the museum are very interesting and depending on what you like there is probably one for you: the air and space museum, the natural history, american history, botanical gardens, zoo, serveral art and scultpure places and a couple more that i may be for getting
if you want a structured tour i think there are walking tours or even segway tours, places also rent out bikes
you probably can't get very close to the white house unless you are on a tour or into the capitol, but everyone wants a picture of both of these
arlington national cemetery is also sortof interesting: you can see JFKs tomb and the tomb of the unknown soldier

This is the safest area of Washington, D.C. and the most visited. Try to see Georgetown, which is a few miles away and Mount Vernon while you are in the area. Take comfortable walking shoes and don't stray off the path. Just a few blocks off the mall is crime ridden and dangerous. I was born in D.C. and can tell you that if the rest of the country knew about D.C. the way the natives do their visits would be planned elsewhere. You are safe on the mall and at most attractions. The government patrols these areas and severly punishes anyone comitting crimes there. Be safe, trust no one!

Are you effective that it is genuine? no remember if it incredibly is, then she's in all probability attempting to help Obama with each and all of the "comfortable" stuff. for occasion, if some thing is going incorrect and Obama has to restoration it, he might say do no longer hardship. Oprah could additionally promote Obama and say that he's an incredible individual, he gets it executed, and you do no longer ought to rigidity. Then, perhaps people opposing Obama, Oprah might make you experience like a racist. it is the place each and all of the sentiments are available in and that i think Oprah is rather sturdy at bringing thoughts forward. using fact it appears like Oprah has a area for Obama, she could be after him.

Yes I loved the natural science and the history museum. They were amazing and I went over 10 years ago. They must be even better by now!
