What everyone else said plus: usually if its a female their purr(not meows) sound a lot more lighter, but this is only something I've discovered by breeding kittens for 5 years i'm sure most will disagree.

Turn it around with the rear facing toward you and lift the tail. A dot and another dot together is a male. A dot with a line is a female.
