My best friend is tiny, while I'm tall, and she always wants to switch bodies with me, which I find weird. Has the media marketed people like the Olsen twins so everyone would feel inferior?

Its like most people want to be petite, while people who are naturally like that, hate it.
Who wins?

No, I've never been envious of petite women. I'm 5'11 and I love it.
I don't mind towering over most women and some men. There's a sense of security in it, at least to me.
But, some tall women feel like men will be intimidated/turned off by their height [which is true for some men]. So, they would rather be petite.
The media create these images of models and celebs as perfect and the ideal. So, most people feel they're lacking something that these celebs seem to have been born with. Most people know it's false [no one's perfect], but they still buy into it.
No one wins because it's not a competition.

YES! I am 5'10" and at my thinnest was still 150 pounds. I always wanted to be the petite little thing that gets picked up and put on the bed. As my punishment, I had twin daughters who are so tiny and petite, neither one weighs more than 100 and are only 5'2".

I think it can go both ways. I am petite, 5'2 and about 100 pounds and I'm 25. I have always wanted to be taller and bigger in shape as I look like a 12 year old but I guess you have to get used to what you are given and work it to your best advantage.

I guess thats just the way it is. Most tall women wish they were shorter and a lot of petite women wished they were more "model-like."
I'm petite and for the longest time I wished I was 6'. Really. Then, it just comes to a point where you just have to accept that it's not going to happen so you just got to love yourself! Work with what you got! Trust me, as much as you may be jealous of a lot of petite women, there are also tons of petite girls that wished they had your height. :)
Oh, and the ones who win are those content with themselves.

I'm 5'1 and small boned. I guess you have to be happy with what you have though. I would like to be taller because it helps in most sports. Like for example in track and field I can run long distance very well but I'm never going to be great at the high jump or shot put. Another downside to being petite is that my jeans are usually to long for me and I have to get my dresses tailored and so on.

Well, to me it seems like short people want to be tall, while tall people want to be small. I don't blame them. I'm a very petite person, but I like my body.

I beleive the media is the ultimate evil in this. They pose women of all ages to be petite.
