Hang around with other believers and learn from them. Consider going on a retreat or to a camp where you can learn and focus on getting closer to God - without the outside distractions.
I get closer by spending my time in prayer - sometimes it doesn't feel like my prayers are getting past the ceiling, and that I don't feel anything happen when I pray. It's when you work through that hurdle and keep praying and fighting to be obedient that God shows up!
As far as screwing up goes, we all screw up and fall short of what God has for us! That's when we get before God and tell HIm we're sorry and ask for His help to stop whatever it is.
Realize too, that ALL Christians go through this - it's part of the faith building process! Just keep running for the prize, as Paul puts it. And when you get to that place that you just don;t want to do it any more, you need to make a conscious decision to keep going, even when it seems like it's not worth it.
That's faith! You can do it!

I read Gods word, and we all sin and fall short, and remember that there Is no guilt and condemnation In Christ Jesus,Its not what we do Its what God does through us,we all fall short, rejoice In the Lord always and remember he will lift you up,Have faith In Gods word and even If you dont feel close remeber he Is right there with you at all times, good times and bad times when we are a bleesing and even more when we fall short.
I hope and pray for you right now that you lean not on your own understanding and recieve the blessing of the Lord for you,ok

Always sing God's praises for all aspects of your life every day. I pray to Him as often as the thought to pray comes to my mind. Today i saw a man that I knew eariler this year tried to take his life, but did not succeed, Right then I quietly prayed for the Lord to bless and keep that man safe. Those little prayers during your day add up, and will bring you closer to God.
Ask God for His guidance and dirrection in every decision you make in your day. Ask Him for His protection, when you travel, and when you get to where you are going, thank Him. A prayer can be in the form of thanks to Him for blessing you.
Just remember that no prayer request is too small or insignificant to God as long as it is His will that you are asking Him for.
God bless you always.

As a Christian we can sense on the fringe of God each and every of the time, notwithstanding, there are cases that I extremely have felt in the route of Him then others. the rationalization that I extremely have experienced is this. The better i elect to spend time with Him, the closer I develop into. His favor is to be extremely on the fringe of His babies. I extremely have a continual discomfort ailment that for awhile extremely drew me faraway from Him. It develop into what i did not do. the shortcoming of closeness had no longer some thing to do with what God did. even as i realized that i might want to journey His grace and power contained in the middle of my discomfort, no longer basically even as God determined to heal me, then I drew closer. on occasion we would no longer continuously "sense" the presence of God, yet that would favor to by no skill negate the actual undeniable actuality that he's latest.

I read my Bible, pray. It may help if you have a special quiet place to read/pray. Sometimes, when I'm out horseback riding, theres this one place that is so peaceful, quiet. I stop my horse for a moment and say a silent prayer.
God Bless You!!!

I do my all to obey God come what. You may ask where do I see God before obeying? His word is there, those around me especially my superiors. God test you and me through that and when we genuinely obey, we surely draw more closer to Him.
God bless you as you do so.

God is spirit.
We worship God in spirit and in truth.
Heaven is where God is and hell is where he is not. Earth is where man. How does man get close to God?
Heaven on earth or hell on earth?
If you want to be with God, start with his word.
