Why don't more Americans understand the threat of global jihad?

Europe is becoming Muslim, because of lax immigration policies and much larger birthrates among Muslims (France is already more than 25% Muslim), and in the near future the United Nations will be an Islamic institution.

And while the majority of Muslims are moderate, everywhere you have Islam you are going to have jihadists who want to kill Westerners.

Iran, a radical Islamic state, is on the verge of having nuclear weapons, and we saw what 19 Islamic radicals with airline tickets did on 9/11.

So why do so many Americans have their head in the sand about the war on terror?

Islamic jihadists want Democrats to win this election and have stated as much. How can anyone vote for Democrats when they will do nothing but appease our enemy?

If you vote Democrat and should Democrats win this election, after Muslims take to dancing in the streets (the same way they danced after 9/11), how long will it take you to regret your vote?

We don't do much of anything the UN says now except when it is what we tell the UN we're going to do, so what threat is there in the UN becoming Islamic? If the UN tells us to, for example, quit torturing and kidnapping terrorist suspects, do you think we do it? Nope.

In fact, in most cases the jihadists have two problems with the US which we could easily avoid. First, our carte blanc support for Israel. Second, occupation of or war against Islamic nations such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Afghanistan. If our foreign affairs were not formulated and conducted by neo-con Jews who refuse to do anything to rein in Israel, and if we would quit invading, destroying and occupying islamic nations for no other reason than we feel like it, the jihadists would leave us alone. I know you call that appeasement but it's not.

Iran did not seriously begin work on nukes until Bush infamously listed them as the axis of evil along with North Korea and Iraq AND we invaded Iraq. They have as much right to defend themselves as we do, and since we have nukes, they really only have one option to defend themselves against us: build nukes.

Americans are beginning to wake up to the fact that the Bush administration are the terrorists, not Islamists. So in that regard, you're right, many Americans have their heads in the sand but they're gradually pulling them out.

I hadn't heard this. Cite a source. Last I heard they were grateful for the Bush administration trying to scare everyone for them, which is the main purpose of terrorism. Democrats have no intention of appeasing anyone, either the Islamists or the Repugs.

When the Repugs won in 2002 and 2004 the Islamists were dancing in the streets because they knew it meant more pointless, wasteful war and less actual securing our borders. It turns out they were right. I think they will be dancing in the streets on Wednesday not because the Dems won, but because the Repugs won.

I won't accuse you of hate. I will say that this some of the most unbelievably idiotic garbage I've seen on this board. We're not supposed to vote democratic because some terrorists may like it? Just so I have this straight, we had a democratic president, no attacks for nearly 8 years. A republican president comes in and 8 months later we suffer the worst terrorist attack in history. Explain to me again how voting democrat makes us less safe?

I just voted in early voting for a straight democratic ticket. I have no and will have no regrets.

By the way when you and people in authority use the word Jihad like you do you obviously don't understand the word or it's significance in Muslim culture. That can be perceived as American arrogance by moderate Muslims. the same people we need to be working closely with in order to defeat the fanatics.

Voting Republican won't guarantee you safety. The World Trade Center was destroyed when a Republican was president and the Congress had a Republican majority.

And yes, the majority of Muslims are moderate, so it takes a really egregious insult to get more than the nuisance raids we currently see by extremists.

Muslim immigration also helps more Muslims understand, appreciate, and adapt to Western culture, so overall, it has a moderating effect on Muslim politics.

People who don't worry about living in a predominanly Muslim country should look at Malaysia where Muslims are stealing bodies of dead people from their non Muslim families and disposing of them under Islamic Law, taking over children of non Muslims if the widowed mother is non Muslim. Where even Muslim women live in fear because the Islamic courts uphold divorce by SMS and Fax from the husband declaring the woman to be divorced.

Malaysia under Islamic laws persecutes its own non Malay, non Muslim citizens making ethnic Chinese and Indians give shareholdings in their businesses to Muslim Malays and giving ethnic Malaya priority over other Malaysian Citizens for all government and military jobs.

Your points are very well made. Thank-you. It is frightening how many do not understand jihad. The Democrats in office understand, they just can't find any way to get votes but by bashing the current administration. If they are to get power they will provide an excuse to their liberal masses as to why it is good for America if we stay in Iraq. Then we will see what a mess can be made in Iraq. Hillary knows we need to fight this thing, but she knows she won't get her liberal base to vote for her unless she bashes the war on terror efforts.

You have made one flawed statement after another. Since the Repubs have taken over, the world is LESS safe than it was before. The invasion of Iraq based on a lie galvanized terrorists. There are more now than there were on 9-11. Osama Bin Laden is still alive and plotting to destroy us. We went after Saddam who posed no threat to us instead of Bin Laden, a dangerous mistake. The Repubs only know how to enrich themselves. They are totally ignorant on matters of foreign affairs and diplomacy. If they continue to hold power, we are in grave danger.
