My girlfriend met this guy on a personals dating site. They emailed one another for about two weeks. Then last week they exchanged telephone numbers and talked on the phone every night this week. On Tuesday he asked her to dinner for tonight at a very fancy restaurant. They still continued emails as well.

At 11:00AM today he sent her an email and said that during their last conversation when she passionately expressed her political views on the phone on Thursday night and they weren't in agreement with his, he felt she inferred that his views were "wrong and stupid". Mind you, he never mentioned this in his email to her yesterday. They didn't talk on the phone last night because she and I and our girlfriends went out.

He said that he was canceling the dinner tonight because her behavior was a red flag for him and he wanted a partner who would agree to disagree with respect.

I told her he wasn't worth it and his reason for canceling was an excuse. What do you think about this ?

I think his reason for canceling is probably the truth BUT I think the deeper issue is that he just can't stand a women who has a mind of her own. In this case he's not worth it! Tell your friend there are thousands of guys online and else where who think a women having a mind of her own is sexy as hell!

there is no reason, guys go out all the time so why cant girls do the same its not like girls are goin to try to get guys #'s...

well all i can say that he has trust issues..
he seems to be one of those guys..
that love to dominate..
and i've personally been in a relationship like that..
(and boy do they suck)
and well ur lady friend should be glad..
because its better to get to know his true colors now..
than to get clingy.. and get hurt in the long run..
but thats just what i think

yeah you said the right thing. Besides personal dating sites are really sketchy...But if he doesnt want to date her for that reason not agreeing with political veiws. It sounds like an excuse to me. I would try again with another guy. sounds like he is a crap guy anyway. Its cool that she has a good friend like you. keep it up!

Run, don't walk away from this girl. She is NOT your girlfriend and you are fooling yourself if you think she is. She may be using you as someone to go out with until she finds the one she wants to date. As I said, RUN!!!

Wow, that's really rude of him! He invited her to dinner, then he un-invited her? That's like giving someone a present and asking for it back!

He may just be an @$$. What are her political views? What are his? They may just be at odds and not be compatible.
