They say that all the great things that God had done there are fairy tales.

but let me tell you something If you would tell people that lived 200 years ago that we will flight in a big mechanic bird to go from one place to another (plane) you think they would had not laughed at you ???

If you would tell people that lived 200 years ago that we will see everything through a little box (tv) you think they would had not laughed ??

If you would tell people that lived 200 years ago that you could talk with someone in china without having to go there (telephone) you think they would had not laughed at you ???

Those are just to name a few. But the thing is that those things were impossible or miracles for past generation. and when people see some miracles they're amazed and like ... oh how can you believe that ?? If men could do all this such amazing things what cant God do ??

Angel of death: The first witness of Jesus resurection was a roman soldier, he amazed went to the pharisees and told them what happened, but they payed him to keep his mouth shout. Now another proof is this ... All the diciples died like martyrs ... have you ever wondered why ?? if peter denied him 3 times and all of them run when they went to get him, what made all these scary diciples all of a sudden be bold and strong, something amazing happened in their lifes that made that change and that was seeing their Lord resurected, cause lets say they made it up ... and they would go kill them to deny it, if it would had been a lie, shoot, they would had deny it right away, cause nobody dies for a lie. Peter for example after denying him 3 times, he died as a martyr crucified upside down. To me those are facts that proves Jesus' resurrection

Some people don't believe in the love and mercy of the one true God, or salvation thru His Son, Jesus, because they have not yet reached the time and place where God gives them that moment of decision (to accept or to reject).

Some people don't believe because they have already reached that moment, and chose to reject/deny salvation thru His Son, Jesus.

The origins of the Bible are not divine and that is a matter of historical fact. But, facts and reality don't mean anything to people who want desperately to believe. Only once a person is able to stop defending it can they clear their mind of bias and see the book for what it is. A beliver's inability to do that is understandable because most are indoctrinated from the time they are born and threatened with punishments for not believing.
To those of us who are not emotionally attached to the book it's origin is obvious and thus we regard it as nothing more than a book of fictional stories made up by superstitious people. It has many good life lessons to offer and the personage of Jesus is a personality to be admired, but that doesn't make it the word of God.
But this matter of belief, I think, boils down to a simple analogy: basically there are two types of people; those who can accept things on faith and those who can't. Some people, I'm assuming like you, are happy to accept something without any concrete proof because you're comfortable with it. People like me think that extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. If a person is going to claim to be a prophet, or a spokesperson for a God, any God, or to have a book that I'm required to follow and believe in, then they must provide some extraordinary proof of it's divine origin - which in the case of the Bible can't be done.
Remember, there are other religions wondering the same things about Christians - so much so that, in the case of some Musilums, they are willing to cut the throat of all non-believers.

Some people have problems believing the bible because there is no way to prove it's fact unless you quote the Bible itself. I've seen other questions like this where the answer was something similar to "Because so and so witnessed it.", but where did we hear of these witnesses? From other versions or deviations from the Bible itself. No one lived during that time, so we don't know. If you choose to believe in the Bible, good for you; you have something to believe in. But I don't think it's fair to come down on those who don't. At the end of the day it's about living a positive life and being a productive member of society. If belief in the Bible helps you do that, then great. If it doesn't, that's fine too.

Are we supposed to believe it? Why? It's just a collection of myths put together by people thousands of years ago, many parts of which have been contradicted by either other writings or by basic scientific facts. And of course there are the inconsistencies and odd things which simply don't add up. For example the story of Jesus's ressurection, odd how there is absolutely no mention in the secular history of this event, yet would not a man walking around talking to people 3 days after the entire area knows he was killed be the absolute biggest news of the day. Of course it would, yet his followers are the only ones who ever write about it,there is not one secular reference of the time that can be found that mentions it. In fact there is more mention of the crucifixtion of Spartacus 100 years earlier than there is of the crucifixtion of Jesus,so much for it being the huge event that many Christians would have you believe, but in reality it was nothing more than a footnote to the Roman Empire until Christians used power they attained over a couple of centuries to affect the political landscape to bring themselves to prominence, then history was essentially rewritten to make one believe it to be some huge event.

The bible is a copy of the Torah but it has been changed, there are 27 Major changes and thousands of minor ones. A few of the major changes are 1. The addition of Satan to control the uneducated masses thought fear. 2. The addition of Hell for the same reason. 3. Changing it from reincarnation to Resurrection. 4. Deleting Lilith (Adams first wife) because it didn't go well with the patriarchal viewpoints of that time. If the hierarchy of the church had not made all those changes to convert the people it might go over better. These are historical facts and are easily verified by the Jewish community.

Because people who believe the Bible think only their holy words are the true ones. Why are the stories told by the Hindus or the Buddhists or the Muslims any less believable than the stories in the Bible?

I don't believe the Bible because most of it is specific to one source (the Bible). If there were any records of anything that happened in the Bible in other sources from history, then I might be more inclined to believe it. Just because it's in a story doesn't make it true. Take Homer's Odyssey for example. Many people believed it was entirely true for a long time, but, as you well know, it's mostly false.

The only reference to Jesus outside of the Bible are obscure references from Roman scribes. Things like, "These Christians are upset because we killed their savior," which is more a description of Christians than a mention of Jesus. You would think that there would be a log somewhere that said, "This man was killed today," but there isn't anywhere.

I don't believe the Bible because there is absolutely no reason to. I might as well believe in an invisible flying spaghetti monster.

Jordan - there are no other writings about Jesus that talk about him specifically. It's all in the third person, which I already addressed in my post. Maybe I was unclear in my description. Every single time Jesus is mentioned by Romans, it is in a passing description about Christians. Nobody ever distinctly mentions "We killed Jesus Christ today." Nobody outside of the Bible says, "This man walked on water today." Never. I invite you to read all of the so called descriptions of Jesus from that time period with that in mind. You'll come to the same conclusion.

Your god can't, it seems, answer the prayers of hundreds of millions of people all asking the same thing. Hundreds of millions prayed for your god to stop Hitler before he caused 30+ million to die during WWII and he did NOTHING. A simple little blood clot would have done the trick, say in 1934, but NOOOOOO. If this god of yours could turn a good woman into a pillar of salt for looking over her shoulder, why couldn't he answer the prayers to end evil. Either your god is heartless, powerless, both, or does not exist at all.

I fail to see your point. Scientific discoveries have nothing to do with the Bible. I do not believe in the bible because I literally can't. You could no more convince me that I had an invisible arm than you could convince me the bible was correct. If anything, believing a bronze-age book holds "spiritual truth" is absurd. Why do you not believe in the Torah or the Quran? Surely they claim a similarly magnificent god.

I think some of the stuff that happened is kind of "out there" and impossible to prove(but also impossible to dismiss!). I believe in God, but it would be easier to believe if he still walked the Earth today, performing miracles himself, rather than working directly through people.

I've flown by plane, watched tv and used phones. I believe in planes, tv and phones.

Your bible is still a bunch of wishful thinking to me. Prove me wrong, and I'll change.

EDIT: No, you don't HAVE to prove me wrong, unless you want me to change. And those episodes you're citing come from the bible, right? Well, in that case, prove the bible right...
